KEYSTONE CUP 410 SPRINT SERIES TO OPEN BUSY WEEK AT GRANDVIEW, WEDNESDAY, MAY 25
In the 2010 Keystone Cup Sprint Series Opener, California's Tyler Walker used some late race heroics to top Tennessee native Greg Hodnett on the high banks at Grandview. At Selinsgrove, Oklahoma native Daryn Pittman, who now races mainly in Pennsylvania, played a game of high speed chess to steal a last lap victory from Pennsylvania native Stevie Smith, who now lives in Oklahoma.
Or consider last year at Lincoln, when Pittman led early, lost the lead to Lincoln champion Brian Montieth, and then rallied late for the win. In fact most years Lincoln's races are in doubt nearly to the end. For example, in 2008 four different drivers led the race, with Stevie Smith picking up the win.
In 2008, Fred Rahmer and Mark Smith exchanged the lead four times at Port Royal before Rahmer went on to the victory.
Williams Grove has never had one of these races without a lead change in the feature.
Big Diamond is back in the picture this year, and their only race in the series did see Lucas Wolfe go flag to flag for the victory.
The Keystone Cup is fast approaching for the Sprint Cars of the central Pennsylvania circuit. It's always been an exciting series, and this year looks to be more of the same.
The fifth edition of the Keystone Cup will once again feature six races in six days leading up to the Memorial Day holiday. The schedule has shifted slightly this year, but the exciting racing action should continue.
The Keystone Cup kicks off on Wednesday May 25 on the high banks at Grandview and will mark the season opener of the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series. The tight confines of the Bechtelsville bullring should provide plenty of racing action in the 35 lap feature that offers $5000 to the winner. Grandview's very popular 358 Modifieds join in the fun in the popular double-header that will get underway at 7:30 PM.
On Thursday May 26, the action moves to the super fast half mile located on the Juniata County Fairgrounds in Port Royal. The 30 lap feature at "the Port" will also offer $5000 to the winner. The Prostocks will be a part of this program.
The historic paper clip shaped half mile at Williams Grove will be the site of Friday's Keystone Cup action on May 27. Again $5000 will await the winner of the 30 lap feature event. At the Grove a gigantic Fireworks display will be part of the program.
It's back to a smaller track on Saturday May 28, as Keystone Cup moves to the Lincoln Speedway near Hanover. At Lincoln the Sprints will again go for 30 laps, with $5000 to win. The Thundercars, Legends and Fireworks will all be a part of this program.
Action shifts back to the big tracks on Sunday, as Keystone Cup moves to Selinsgrove. Another big, super fast half mile, with 30 laps for $5000 to win. The ever popular Super Sportsman racers will join the action at Selinsgrove on May 29.
Keystone Cup wraps up it's fifth season on Memorial Day Monday May 30. It's back to the shorter ovals, as Keystone Cup returns to Big Diamond for the first time since 2007. The Minersville oval will host a 30 lap feature with yet another $5000 to the winner. The wingless ARDC Midgets will be a part of this show.
