STRUNK LOOKING TO CRACK VICTORY LANE AT GRANDVIEW IN 2011

Bechtelsville, PA March 12, 2011 . . . Eight time Grandview Speedway NASCAR 358 Modified stock car champion Jeff Strunk is looking to get back to victory lane in 2011. The veteran racer was unable to add any Grandview wins to his impressive list of 52 career victories at the one-third-mile, banked clay track during the 2010 season and was forced to settle for second spot behind champion Duane Howard in the final NASCAR Whelen All American Series 358 Modified point standings.

Strunk, who makes his home in Bechtelsville, PA, will be in a new ride having signed on to drive for the Norm Hansell #357 Modified team. The combination of many time winner Strunk and the very competitive Norm’s Save Station sponsored entry could very well prove to be tough to beat in 2011.

Giving Strunk plenty of competition will be defending champion Duane Howard who will be back with a new BPG Racing No. 4 Troyer Modified. Howard won eight features at the Berks County oval in 2010. Craig VonDohren, a six time past champion, had seven wins at Grandview last season and is looking to make a run for the title.

Ryan Godown, third in the final standings last season, has moved to the potent Johnny Rea Modified for the 2011 season and is considered a threat for the championship.

However there is a long list of racing talents looking to top the victory list with the Modifieds and be contenders for the very lucrative championship including Mike Gular, Brad Missimer, Jon Kellner, John Willman, Kevin Hirthler, Terry Meitzler, Doug Manmiller, Meme DeSantis, Terry Meitzler and many others.

“It looks like it is going to be another very competitive season with the Modifieds this season,” said track owner Bruce Rogers. “I think fans can look forward to seeing some fantastic competition this year with the Modifieds. And from what I hear the Late Models will be offering some great racing so it will be Saturday night stock car racing loaded with action.”

The 2011 season gets the green on Saturday, March 26th, noon, when the annual free-to-the-public practice session is presented. The practice is open to all divisions of competition and usually attracts everything from Enduro cars to Sprints. It offers fans the opportunity to see what is new for 2011 and it gives racers their last chance to do a little testing and tuning before the season starts.

Officially the first event, one that counts toward the NASCAR and track titles, is set for Saturday, April 2nd, 7 p.m. The Modified and Late Model stock cars will be featured in the first official event kicking off the 49th season of racing at the popular speedway.

On Sunday, April 3, noon, the first NEETS Enduro event of the season will be presented along with the Slingshot racers.

The Enduro racers will also perform in as many as four exhibition races, following still to be determined Saturday night stock car events. There will be no increase in admission prices.

Salvage Transport of Coplay, PA, owned by former Late Model champion Jeff Teets, wil be sponsoring a weekly Hard Charger Award for the Late Models starting with the first event in May. Teets will also have a cash award for the racer earning the most Late Model Hard Charger Awards at the end of the season.

Mike Kramer and his Cornerstone Auto Sales in Fleetwood, PA will be posting Hard Charger Award money for the Modifieds starting in May.

Season passes, offering reserved seats for all Saturday night events run in 2011, are available for just $300.

Grandview Speedway is located at 43 Passmore Road, Bechtelsville, PA, just off Route 100, 10 miles north of Pottstown.
