THERE WILL BE A NEW LATE MODEL CHAMPION AT GRANDVIEW IN 2011

BECHTELSVILLE, PA February 17, 2011 . . . Three time Grandview Speedway NASCAR Late Model champion Brian Shuey will not be racing for a fourth title in 2011.

“I plan to start the season running the April 2nd opener at Grandview.” said the Shoemakersville, PA resident who would have been going for a third straight title, “After that our plans are pretty much up in the air as far as Grandview goes. We may run as many as six events during the season.”

Shuey’s championship car owners, Dave and Charlotte Eyrich, are taking a year off from the sport and that left him without a ride at Grandview. With no offers of another ride at the NASCAR sanctioned one-third-mile, banked clay oval Shuey was left with nothing.

“I was just able to put something together in the last few days,” said the popular Late Model racer. “I will be running with a team that has Ed Powell and Jesse Willman involved. We plan to run unlimited late model events throughout Central Pennsylvania with some stops at Grandview from time-to-time including the Firecracker 40 in July.”

Shuey did want to run for a third straight title at Grandview and his fourth overall but he just could not make it happened. He is disappointed at not going for a fourth Grandview title but optimistic that his new ride will introduce him to new challenges and successes.

With Shuey running a limited schedule that opens the door for former champions such as Ron Kline, John Giesler, Chuck Schutz and Randy Stoudt to make a run for the lucrative Late Model championship.

There are also some veterans that will see competition at Grandview with the Late Models and they have championship hopes including Mike Kellner, Rick Todorow, Danny Snyder, Wayne Pfeil Jr., and Randall Paxton.

And to show that Late Model racing is in good shape at the Bechtelsville track there are some young talents coming along that should be able to visit victory lane and perhaps chase the title including T.J. Mayberry, John Favinger, Kurt Spotts and a host of others.

It is anyone’s guess as to who else will show up to race with the NASCAR Late Models in 2011.

The season gets started with a free-to-the-public practice session on Saturday, March 26th at noon. The practice is open to all divisions of competition.

Then on Saturday, April 2nd, 7 p.m. the official chase for the championships will get the green with the NASCAR 358 Modifieds and Late Models in action.

Sunday, April 3rd, 12 noon the Outlaw Slingshots will be featured along with the NEETS Enduro racers.

Season passes that include a reserved seat for all Saturday night events, April through September, are available for $300. Make your check payable to Grandview Speedway and send it, along with a self addressed stamped envelope, to 87 Wild Road, Bechtelsville, PA 19505.

Grandview Speedway is located at 43 Passmore Road, Bechtelsville, PA just off Route 100, ten miles north of Pottstown. For information telephone 610.754.7688 or check in at http://www.grandviewspeedway.com/
