STEEL BLOCK BANDIT LATE MODELS AND SPORTSMAN STOCKS TO BE PART OF “FAN APPRECIATION NIGHT”
BECHTELSVILLE, PA JULY 20,, 2010 . . . Fans (adult fans) will be paying less to see the Cline Construction Steel Block Bandits Late Models and Sportsman stock cars in action at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, July 31st. The doubleheader show will be “Fan Appreciation Night” with adult fans paying just $10 and children 6 thru 11 paying $3. As usual kids under 6 are admitted FREE.
This will be a first time appearance for the Steel Block Bandits at Grandview Speedway and the traveling organization is expected to bring a strong contingent of racers to perform on the one-third-mile banked clay oval. The Late Models that are seen in action each Saturday night will be part of the special attraction. With $2,000 going to the winner, a strong field of entries is expected.
Current Grandview NASCAR Late Model point leader Brian Shuey is expected to challenge the Steel Block Bandits along with Saturday night regulars Randy Stoudt, Chuck Schutz, Ron Kline, Mike Kellner, Nate Christman, Danny Snyder and a host of others.
The Cline Construction Steel Block Bandits, headquartered in Virginia, will have point leader Walker Arthur (Forest, VA) leading their charge with a large field of entries expected including Bruce Kane (Glenn Burnie, MD), Joey Leavell (Waynesboro, VA), Gerald Davis (Delray, W.VA) and many others.
Of interest to local fans will be the appearance of former Grandview regular Kyle Merkel (Gilbertsville). The young racer is currently fifth in the Steel Block Bandit points and he has been a feature winner at Grandview in the past.
The Sportsman stock cars, using the Big Diamond Raceway specs, will make up the second part of the “Fan Appreciation Night” doubleheader with a strong contingent of Sportsman racers expected from Big Diamond and other area tracks. The last time the Sportsman raced at Grandview the feature win went to Brad Brightbill. He is expected to try for two wins in a row.
Since this is not a NASCAR sanctioned event there will be no need for a NASCAR license to enter the pit area. Pit admission will be $30.
A full series of qualifying events will lead up to a 40-lap feature, starting 25 cars, for the Steel Block Bandits. The Sportsman will also run a full slate of qualifying events topped by a 25 lap feature.
Spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m. with racing getting the green flag at 7:30 p.m.

Coming up at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, August 14th is the annual Forrest Rogers Memorial for NASCAR 358 Modifieds which will reward the winner with $10,000. The Late Models will also be part of that doubleheader.
