Newberrytown, PA (May 13, 2010) – Last season, Susquehanna Speedway Park owners provided a poll on their website to see what special events fans would like to see for the 2010 season. The results found the top five divisions requested for the special events included the Super Sprint Cars (26.4%); Super Late Models (24.1%); 358 Sprint Cars (10.7%); Small Block Modifieds (10.5%) and the wingless Midgets (10,5%). With these results, the four-race "King of the Hill Series" was created for the 2010 season.
The second race of SSP's King of the Hill series will take place on Sunday, May 23 featuring the return of the Super Late Models, the Legends Cars and SSP’s XSC Elite class. The Super Late Models return after a 3-year hiatus from SSP.
The King of the Hill series will be unique in that the headline division's starting lineups will be determined by a set of one-on-one two lap match races in which the "King of the Hill" will earn the pole position of the event. The match races will be single elimination. Depending on car count, there will be either 8 or 12 participants that will qualify for the match races through their heat races. The "King of the Hill" will also earn $500.00.
For the Super Late Models, an open tire rule on all four corners will be in place. The pit gates will open 3:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 4:00 p.m. Warmups begin at 5:30 p.m. and racing action at 6:00 p.m.
The 25-lap Super Late Model feature will pay $2,200-to-win and $175 to start. Along with a victory in the King of the Hill Dash races, a driver could leave with $2,700.
General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for the Sunday night are Adults (ages 18-59) $15.00; Young Adults (ages 11-17) & Senior Adults (60 & Older) $13.00; Children (10 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $25.00. The minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 12 years of age with a copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 12 to 14.
Other events included in the King of the Hill series will be Sunday, June 13 with the 358 Sprint Cars and ARDC midgets and Sunday , August 1 with the Small Block Modifieds.
SSP accepts credit cards for grandstand ticket purchases. Visa, Mastercard and Discover are accepted.
When the Super Late Models last visited the Newberrytown oval on July 14, 2007 Alan Sagi found the SSP victory lane with Jason Covert and Kirk Ryan close behind in second and third.

The popular "Repeat Fan Discount" program will continue at SSP in 2010 for the seventh straight season. This is a $2.00 repeat fan discount for each person with a ticket stub from races during the previous week's events completed only. Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings during and at the end of the season for great prizes. The Repeat Fan Discount is not valid for pit pass purchases.

The Next Wednesday Night Test & Tune is on May 19
The next Wednesday Night Test & Tune session will be held on Wednesday, May 19 at the Susquehanna Speedway Park. It is open to any type of racecars capable of competing on the 4/10 mile oval. The cost is $12.00 per person for pit passes and a $20.00 fee for each racecar entering the pit area ($32.00 per car & driver combination). Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with open track time from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. by class. Each session will be 6 – 8 laps per session. The grandstands are open free to the public. Each class will receive 4 to 5 rounds of 6/8 laps each or more if time permits. The fuel pumps from Miller’s Racing Parts will not be open. Anyone needing fuel should contact Miller’s Racing Parts directly at 717-766-0181. The main concession stand will be open throughout the night.
Also on Wednesday night, there will an open practice session for quarter midgets and karts at the Outback Track from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. under the lights. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. with open practice from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The cost will be $20.00 per driver with no charge for anyone else entering the grandstand and “cold pit” areas. All Outback Track participants should enter the pits from the Kise Mill Road entrance behind turn 2 of the “Big Track.”

- Track Rental for the “Big Track” and the “Outback Track” – The “Big track” and the “Outback track” are available for rent beginning March 1, 2010. The “Big Track” rental fee is $1,400.00 for 4 hours and may be split between a maximum of five-(5) drivers/teams. Only one car is permitted on the track at a time. If an ambulance is requested, it is an additional $75.00 per hour. For nighttime rentals at the “Big Track”, an additional $100.00 per hour will be charged for lights.
The rental price for the “Outback Track” is $400.00 for 4 hours during the day /$500.00 at night and may be split between a maximum of five-(5) drivers/teams. To reserve either track, please call 717-292-1696.
