STEWART FRIESEN WINS RICH VP RACING FUELS BRUCE ROGERS MONEY MAKER MEMORIAL AT GRANDVIEW
KEVIN HIRTHLER TAKES TOP SPOT IN SPORTSMAN FEATURE
BECHTELVILLE, PA April 14, 2018 . . . New Yorker Stewart Friesen went home $7,500 richer and having earned the prestige of winning the First annual VP Racing Fuels Bruce Rogers Money Maker 50 Memorial on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway. The classic event, featuring many of the top names in the sport, was run in memory of the late owner of the speedway who had passed away in March, 2017.
Friesen was able to get by Mike Gular in the late laps to grab the win in the 50-lapper that pitted Small Blocks against Big Blocks. Third spot was earned by Craig VonDohren with Ryan Watt and Frank Cozze rounding out the top five.
Sixth through 10th went to Duane Howard, Meme DeSantis, Rick Laubach, Billy Pauch Sr. and Mike Mahaney.
All racers that made the 24-car starting field earned at least $1,000.
Kevin Hirthler, a regular on the 358 Modified circuit, won the Sportsman main event, the second part of the doubleheader show. Brad Grim took second followed by Kevin’s younger brother Brian Hirthler, Dylan Swinehart and Mark Kemmerer.
The NASCAR season will get underway at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, April 21, 7 p.m. and will feature a four division show that includes the T.P.Trailers 358 Modifieds, Late Models, Sportsman and Blast from the Past Vintage Car racers. Admission is $15 for adults while youngsters 11 and under are admitted free.
