Neal Williams To Pilot One Of Sal DeBruno's No. 0 Overhead Door Cars

For many years, Neal Williams called the Bridgeport Speedway his Saturday night home.

As one of the drivers of Sal DeBruno's No. 0 Overhead Door cars, Williams competed in the Crate Division and brought the storied car owner his first and only Bridgeport Track Championship to date.  DeBruno's cars have been in the thick of the points chase on several occasions with drivers like Ricky Elliott and the late Doug Hoffman but none had been able to deliver the season end trophy except for Williams.

But opportunity knocked and Williams answered the call.  He worked hard.  In spite of his tireless hours of hard work, his efforts didn't bring the results that Williams had hoped for .  Not long after the 2016 season had seen its first green flag, Williams found himself reevaluating his situation.

"It's about moving forward - what it is for the future," Williams explained.  It was time.  It was time for Williams to create his own path and move forward.  "You have to create something for yourself," Williams added.  "What I see for myself is definitely not what somebody else sees for me."

So Williams decided that it was time to make a move.

On Wednesday, June 15th, Williams will make his return to the Bridgeport Speedway on the night of the Annual Friends of Mike event.

Williams is not just returning for the special show.  Williams is returning to the Bridgeport Speedway and will pilot a second Big Block Modified entry out of DeBruno's Overhead Door stable.

DeBruno and CJ Jones made the move into the Big Blocks for the 2016 season and Jones will continue to field the famed "0" car for DeBruno.  Williams operation will be totally separate.  Williams number will use the "0" but will be slightly different.

"This isn't just about racing," Williams explained.  My dad (Ronnie Williams) and Sal have been friends for nearly thirty years.  No matter what is was, Sal has always been there for us."

Much to the delight of the Bridgeport Speedway fans, Neal Williams is coming home.
