PA STAR JEFF STRUNK READY TO DEBUT ON THE WOODHULL RACEWAY HIGH BANKS AUGUST 11 (8-1-15)‏

Wild Card Race: Jeff Strunk Set To Make Woodhull Raceway Debut Tuesday, August 11 for ‘Hustlin’ the High Banks 51’ Special; Richest Race In Woodhull History Set As Short Track Super Series Fueled By Hi-Tek Invades
WOODHULL, NY – The Tuesday, August 11 event at Woodhull Raceway could well be considered a “wild card” for the 2015 Short Track Super Series Fueled By Hi-Tek.
Many of the series travelers have yet to lay eyes on the high-banked, one-third-mile paperclip, including Pennsylvania star Jeff Strunk, who is anxious to turn his first laps at Woodhull in the NAPA Auto Parts ‘Hustlin’ the High Banks 51’ presented by Outman Equipment, Two Rivers Timber and Maple City Dodge.
Strunk, of Boyertown, Pa., will make his debut at the facility driving the potent Pat Morrison-powered No. 88 Hig Fab Chassis owned by David Zubikowski.
Strunk is a feature winner this season at Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, Pa., a facility where he owns 10 track championships.
“I can’t wait,” Strunk said of his maiden voyage to Woodhull. “I’ve seen some videos and heard good things about the track. I like going to new tracks and this is one I have been looking forward to. There looks to be some similarity to Grandview with the steep banking there.”
Strunk has made an impact on the STSS Bob Hilbert Sportswear North Region this season. He earned a podium finish – third – at Big Diamond Speedway in Minersville, Pa., in May and has recorded top-10 finishes at Thunder Mountain Speedway in Center Lisle, N.Y., June 29 (sixth) and Accord (N.Y.) Speedway May 19 (10th).
Perhaps Strunk’s most impressive performance came in the series’ most recent race on July 22: he drove from 20th to run sixth just 15 laps into the ‘Crazy 8s Special’ at I-88 Speedway in Afton, N.Y.  However, a broken axle ended his effort early.
“I think we had something for them at I-88,” Strunk surmised.
Strunk thoroughly enjoys racing on the road with the STSS and isn’t afraid to spread the word to his peers.
“Anyone who has a Modified and doesn’t tow to these races is crazy – you should be there,” he bottom-lined. “It’s the only thing out there right now that’s new, it’s different and hands-down takes care of the racer. We have finished 10th and walked out with $1,300 in cash and contingencies.
“That’s what I like about it. This deal isn’t just about the winner. It takes care of everybody: especially the 6th-10th guys and that will keep us all coming back.”
The ‘Hustlin’ the High Banks’ event at Woodhull is the sixth round of the eight-race STSS Bob Hilbert Sportswear North Region. Four of the top-five drivers in the North Region standings have never turned a lap at the track: point leader Stewart Friesen of Sprakers, N.Y., third-place Anthony Perrego of Montgomery, N.Y., fourth-place Tommy Meier of Waldwick, N.J., and fifth-place Andy Bachetti of Sheffield, Mass.
Modifieds, big- and small-blocks, race for a $5,100-plus winner’s share, with $1,000 reserved for 10th-place and $400 just to take the green flag. This is by far the most lucrative payout in the five-decade existence of auto racing at Woodhull, currently owned and operated by businessman Ted White.
The last midweek Modified event contested at Woodhull was June 5, 2012, more than three years ago.
For the ‘Hustlin’ the High Banks 51’ event, all Modifieds weight a minimum of 2,400 lbs. American Racer tire options are as follows: 33 or harder across the front; 33 or harder left-rear; 38 or harder right-rear. Sail panels, even, with a maximum height of 65 inches at the tallest point are permitted.
The complete ‘Hustlin’ the High Banks 51’ payout is: 1) $5,100; 2) $3,000; 3) $2,000; 4) $1,500; 5) $1,400; 6) $1,150; 7) $1,125; 8) $1,100; 9) $1,050; 10) $1,000; 11) $750; 12) $650; 13) $550; 14) $450; 15) $425; 16) $415; 17) $405; 18-Last): $400; Provisionals) -$200.
Lap money, contingency awards and bonuses will further sweeten the pot for STSS Modified competitors in the event.
GRIT Series Crate 602 Sportsman will compete in a $1,000-to-win, $100-to-start 25-lap main and a Quad C Challenge completes the program.
