HARRELL & JONES SCORE FIRST WINS OF THE SEASON
Outlaw Champion Contenders Share Twin 12 Wins

Matt Harrell picked up his first Spirit Dodge Big Block Modified Feature win of the season as he raced Dominic Buffalino to the checkered flag in the twenty-five lap main event.  After coming so close on so many other occasions, CJ Jones finally sealed the deal and picked up his first win of 2014 in the 811 Dig Safely Crate/Sportsman feature event while Stewart Stainless Outlaw Stock Championship contenders, Jim Avery and Jeramy Doerr each picked up a win in the Twin 12 lap feature events on Saturday night.

The ladies took to the track to close out a full night of racing with Fay Lancaster winning the Powder Puff competition in the stock cars while Beth Beaumont captured the win in the Outlaw Stock Powder Puff feature.

Harrell and Mike Franz led the field to the start but green flag conditions were quickly curtailed as John Miloczar spun in turn one, bringing out the caution.  Much to the dismay of several competitors, it was the last caution flag of the race as Harrell led the field to the complete restart and twenty-five non-stop laps of racing.

Ron Roberts took over second from Franz on lap three as Dominic Buffalino challenged for the third spot.  Buffalino took over second on the next circuit as he completed passes by both Franz and Roberts and set his sights on the Harrell Trucking #35.

Wade Hendrickson moved into third on lap six as Buffalino began to close in on the leader.  Tommy Beamer held down the fourth spot as current point leader, Jimmy Horton moved into the top five just before the crossed flags.

As the heavy hitters joined the chase, Harrell continued to lead the way.    At times, Buffalino would move up to Harrell's bumper but Harrell was able to manage the track surface and slower traffic to his advantage.  "I could hear someone was there," Harrell related.  "I knew it had to be Buffalino because of how fast he was in the heat."  With about five laps to go, Harrell allowed a glance or two at the scoreboard to confirm his suspicions.

Everyone - except Harrell - was looking for a late race caution but that caution never came as the young Elmer, NJ driver sailed to the win.  Buffalino followed Harrell across the line.  Hendrickson, who was able to close on the leaders when they ran in traffic, finished third ahead of Horton.  Beamer claimed fifth in the Thornton Gulf #31.

Rookie driver, Steve Desmelyk led the 811 Dig Safely field for the first two laps before Cherry Hill's Ricky DiEva took the lead on the third circuit.  CJ Jones moved into second on the fifth circuit and tried to make a pass by DiEva on the outside but several attempts failed.  Jones had just completed the pass just before the half way mark as the pair raced down the backstetch but a caution flag negated his efforts.  Jones again looked to the outside but then quickly changed lanes to take the lead from the inside on lap twelve.  It was a four car race for third that was eventually won by Jesse Hill.  Travis Hill took fourth with Steve Searock just edging out Kris Lilick at the finish line for fifth.

Jimmy Avery took the lead from Russell Wurst in the midway point of the first Stewart Stainless Outlaw Stock Feature and then went on to hold off Jeramy Doerr for the win.  Doerr rebounded to finish second after spinning on lap five.  In the second twelve lap feature, it only took Doerr one lap to make his way to the front after starting in the sixth spot.  Ed Tinsman led the first lap before Doerr took over on lap two.  Doerr  was able to gain a few points on Avery who is the current Outlaw point leader after finishing second and first in the two feature events.
