DeVAULT, LOCUSON, REINHARDT & DUNN TAKE FRIDAY NIGHT BRIDGEPORT VICTORIES
Bob DeVault scored his first win of 2014 with the Hilborn TSRS 305 Sprints. DeVault became the sixth different driver in as many races to capture the checkered flag. Sam Locuson scored the win in the 600cc Micro Sprints making it three in a row for the Locuson’s. Tyler Reinhardt won his fifth feature of the season and regained the point lead in the 270cc Micro Sprint feature. Justin Dunn won his fifth Four Cylinder Enduro feature to extend his point lead.
On the opening lap of the TSRS Sprint feature Cody Jourdan went for a wild ride. Jamie Kostic was spun. Jourdan rode over the rear wheel of Kostic and tumbled over the second turn wall. Bryant Davis was also collected in melee. On the second attempt to start the feature, Rick Stief jumped to the early lead over John Brennfleck. Stief began to pull away as DeVault and Mike Haggenbottom moved into second and third. DeVault pulled in behind Stief and made his move just past halfway to take the lead. Haggenbottom followed DeVault a lap later to take second. Stief remained strong and finished third followed by Adam Carberry and Steve Patterson.
Sam Locuson led the 600cc Micro Sprint from green to checkered to win his first win of the season. Andrew Locuson finished second and moved into a tie for the point lead with Luke Thomas who finished third. Lee Nardelli was fourth and Chris Locuson was fifth.
Reinhardt collected his fifth win of the season and retook the lead by 2 points ahead of Joe Dopke for the 270cc Micro Sprint point title. Billy Gray, Roland Saxton, Steve Coslop and Ryan Wozunk completed the top five in the feature event.
Justin Dunn scored his fifth win of the season in the Four Cylinder feature. Joe Garey, John Webster, Joe King, Jr., and Art Knapp rounded out the top five.
As a result of his accident in the TSRS Sprint feature, Cody Jourdan was taken to the hospital. Carley Rocap was also transported to the hospital after she made heavy contact to the inside fourth turn wall during the Four Cylinder feature event. Both drivers were released without injury from the hospital.
Bridgeport Speedway welcomed Raymond Rizzo of Motor Racing Outreach Association to the quarter mile action on Friday night. The Speedway would like to thank Mr. Rizzo for his help and support throughout the night.
