GOOD NEWS!!! THE 52ND SEASON OF STOCK CAR RACING IS SET TO GO AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY ON APRIL 5
BECHTELSVILLE, PA March 29, 2014 . . . There may have been some who thought the stock car racing season would never get here after such a long, cold, snowy winter. However there is good news, the 52nd consecutive season of stock car racing will get the green flag on Saturday, April 5th at NASCAR sanctioned Grandview Speedway.
The one-third-mile, banked clay track is expected to be in peak condition having had new clay added to the surface at the end of 2013.
Saturday night racing action for the season opener will include a tripleheader show that will feature the fan favorite NASCAR 358 Modifieds along with the crowd pleasing action of the Sportsman and Late Model stock cars.
A full series of qualifying events will be presented in each division with a 30-lap feature topping the racing action for the Modifieds and 25-lap features for the Late Models and Sportsman.
Again this season T.P. Trailers of Limerick, PA will be posting  bonus bucks for the feature winners in each division. That includes $250 for the Modified winner and $100 for the Late Model and Sportsman feature winner.
The racers will be chasing lucrative point funds offered by the Rogers family and NASCAR with the 358 Modified champion walking off with well over $10,000 at the end of the season.
For the first time in quite a while Pastor Don Kerns will deliver an invocation before the races and Keith Gerhart will deliver one of his rousing renditions of the National Anthem.
Jeff Ahlum, well known area racing announcer, will be kicking off his career as the Saturday night announcer replacing long time announcer Ernie Saxton who retired at the end of last season after 45 years at the microphone.
Gates will open at 5 p.m. with racing starting at 7 p.m. Adult admission is $15 while youngsters 12 and under are admitted for FREE. There is free parking on the grounds of the speedway.
Fans coming out for the season opener will have a chance to meet three of the racers up close and collect autographs, take pictures and just get to know them. The “Low, Down & Dirty” radio show, heard on the Internet each Tuesday night, 8:05 p.m., at www.blogtalkradio.com will be hosting the weekly Meet & Greet session at the main entrance of the speedway. This week, at 5 p.m., early arriving fans will meet NASCAR 358 Modified racer Kyle Weiss, Sportsman talent Kaitie McCardle and Late Model racer Dan Green. They will also have their cars on display.
Coming up on Saturday, April 12th will be twin 20-lap features for the Modifieds along with racing action for the Sportsman and Late Models.
Grandview Speedway is located on Passmore Road, just off Route 100, in Bechtelsville, PA 10 miles north of Pottstown. For information check in at www.grandviewspeedway.com or telephone 610.754.7688.
