POINT BATTLES HEAT UP ENTERING THE MONTH OF AUGUST; SPORTSMAN CHALLENGE
RACES AND LEGENDS AT BIG DIAMOND THIS FRIDAY
MINERSVILLE, PA - JULY 31st,
2013
After some unfortunate events that affected some of the top runners
in each division last week, the point battles are heating up as we enter August
at Big Diamond Speedway.
This coming Friday, August 2nd, we present the
ZY Pyrotechnics 358 Modifieds, USS Achey Sportsman, Savage 61 Roadrunner, and
Legend cars. Also on the agenda are the challenge races for the Sportsman
featuring one-on-one match races for the top 11 drivers in points that
attend.
Craig Von Dohren leads the Modified points by 108 markers over
Meme Desantis, who has really come on as of late. With a win, 2nd, and 7th in
the last three races, Meme has been able to take over the 2nd spot from Jeff
Strunk and set his sights on CVD.
In the Sportsman ranks, Jared
Umbenhauer leads by 74 points over Billy Moyer Jr. after winning the last two
events run. Moyer has run into some hard luck as of late, but has still managed
to put together back to back top ten finishes to remain close with Ray Woodall
Jr. a distant third after two rough weeks.
Marc Berzowski leads the
Roadrunner points for the first time this season after scoring 4 top 6 finishes
in last weeks Crazy 8's event. Two time Crazy 8 winner Jeremy Becker is 119
points back with Chris Holland looming in the third position.
Racing in
all divisions is expected to be very close and exciting this Friday as we head
into the final 1/3 of the season, and more importantly, Coalcracker
weekend.
Only 5 races remain until Labor Day weekend, when we present the
Jack Rich Memorial Coal Cracker 72 race for the ZY Pyrotechnics 358 Modifieds at
Big Diamond Speedway.
The race will be Sunday, September 1st and will
once again be 72 laps paying $10,000 to win. This years "to take the green"
money has been increased to $500.
The entire evenings events will be
sponsored by Jack Rich, Inc. Jack Rich is your full service community oil
company, supplying quality fuels & related heating, cooling and plumbing
services throughout the Greater Schuylkill County.
Entry forms will be
available at the pit sign in booth every week from now until Coalcracker night.
Early entry fee is $35.00 per car and entry fee the day of the event is
$50.00.
Lap sponsorships are avaialble for $20.00 per lap. Please see
Tim Long at the pit sign in booth or in the announcers tower at intermission if
interested in sponsoring a lap.
