THE CHAMPIONSHIP BATTLES CONTINUE AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA May 28, 2013 . . . All three divisions of NASCAR stock car racing competition at Grandview Speedway have close battles for the championships continuing this Saturday, June 1st.
Three divisions of stock car racing that include NASCAR 358 Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsman are featured this Saturday night and each division has a close battle for the lucrative titles going on. PBGW Accounting of Colmar, PA will sponsor the night and the Checkered Flag Fan Club will have representatives on hand to honor the winners.
Defending champion Duane Howard is leading the 358 Modified standings. He has earned three feature wins and tallied 1810 points. That is good enough to have a 91 point edge over Craig VonDohren. Jeff Strunk holds third with 1706 points while newcomer to Grandview, Frank Cozze, is fourth with 1704 counters.
Six time Late Model kingpin Chuck Schutz holds the top spot in the Late Model point chase with two wins and 1649 points just 11 points ahead of Mike Kellner who is looking for his first championship. He has two feature wins.
The NASCAR Sportsman title battle has Craig Whitmoyer in front with 1585 points but no feature wins. He is challenged by defending champion Jared Umbenhauer who has 1561 points and two feature wins.
At least 14 events of racing will be presented on Saturday (June 1st). A 30-lap feature tops the Modified segment of the show while the Late Models and Sportsman each run in 25-lap features. Adult admission is just $15 while youngsters 12 and under are admitted free. Spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m. with racing starting at 7:30 p.m. A meet and greet with a driver from each division will take place at the main gate at 5:30 p.m.
