URC Sprint Series To Open At Big Diamond Raceway Friday, April 26. . . .

JOSH WELLER & CHRIS WEISS SET BIG PLANS TO CHASE RISLONE URC SPRINT SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE IN 2013

The Rislone URC Sprint Series season opener is fast approaching with the Pioneer Pole Buildings sponsored event at the Big Diamond Raceway on Friday night, April 26. One team counting the days to the URC Opener is driver Josh Weller and car owner Chris Weiss. After much success in URC over past years, Josh Weller of Mertztown, PA was seriously thinking about taking the season off. Driver Chris Weiss and his wife Sandy asked to meet with Weller and in just a short period of time, a deal was arranged for 2013. Weiss of East Texas, PA competed with URC for a few years and understands the level of competition and what is needed not only to win features, but to chase a championship. In 2013, look for the Weller/Weiss team to be chasing wins and a title.

Known as “The Wild Child”, Josh Weller at age twenty-seven, has enjoyed nine seasons with URC and racked up much success. Weller owns five career URC wins and finished a strong third in URC’s season long 2012 Rislone Sprint Series season long title chase. Weller is best known for his come from behind charges and strong late race challenges for the win. Although Weller adapts well at almost any track, a Josh Weller treat is watching him battle the high banks of Grandview Speedway, a track that is not a favorite to many drivers, but a track everyone wants to master.

Chris Weiss does have expectations for 2013 and they are pretty straight forward, basically, to see his car up front every week. With that said, Chris and Sandy plan to provide the best equipment available to make it all happen. Chris and Sandy plan to be at the races as often as his work schedule will allow, but have no doubt, the car and crew will be at every show.

“All of Chris' equipment is in the process of being moved to our garage because we have more room then he does. The cars will be maintained out of our garage with the help of Chris, our crew as well as my father and I”, commented Josh.
“It will be a little different driving for someone else”. Josh continue to say, “The transition from driving your own equipment should be a little easier because of the car being kept at my parents house and how close Chris and Sandy live to us. I have driven for car owners before, just not for a whole season. But I think it will work out very well. This year my dad will be my crew chief on the race car, just not the car owner like he has been for the past 18 years of my racing career. A role he is reluctantly, but willingly giving up to Chris and Sandy”.
I don't think my driving will change now that I am driving for Chris and Sandy. They know that I try to be as easy on equipment as possible, something I have learned from running on a shoestring budget for the last four seasons in URC”. Weller added, “Chris and Sandy expect me to get all that I can out of their race car and still be able to roll the car in the trailer at the end of the night”.
In 2013, The Weller/Weiss team plan to run the Rislone URC Sprint Tour, with the possibility of a few extra special show throughout the season. Sponsors on-board for 2013 include TNT Scrap Metal in Brooklyn, NY and Assured Automation. Sponsorship opportunities are still available for the coming season. The crew chief will be Rick Weller and the crew will include Bob and Spark Miller and Chris Reese.
.
Josh Weller will have his share of opposition with challenges coming from defending URC Champion Robbie Stillwaggon, Billy Pauch, Jr., Ed Aikin, Kramer Williamson, Chad Trout, Joey Biasi, Tim Kelly, Art Liedl, JJ Grasso, Keith Prutzman, Dave Ely, Randy West, Scott Lutz, JR Berry, Andy Best and Jonathan Swanson just to name a few. So for now, get ready for the Rislone URC Sprint Series opener at the Big Diamond Raceway on Friday, August 26.
