RTS Chassis & American Racer Tires Lead Impressive Sponsor List for 2013 Dream at the Green





It's the event that is "promoted by the racer, for the racer."

Nunzi Allegrucci, in cooperation with Greenwood Valley Action Track promoters Gerry and Cindy Creveling, will present the third event of his promotional career, and second Dream at the Green for the 270cc and 600cc Micro-Sprints. The event takes place on Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7, with Saturday's action starting at 4 p.m. and Sunday's grand finale` beginning at 7 p.m.

Allegrucci, the recently engaged racer of 270 Micros, will once again trade his helmet for a promoter's hat when he joins the Crevelings for another edition of his wildly popular, early season race meet. And he's lined up an impressive list of sponsors to support the lucrative purse that will be paid.

RTS Chassis, the Micro-Sprint car building company celebrating its 25th year in business, is the lead sponsor for the 270cc division at this year's Dream.

American Racer Tires will serve as the lead sponsor for the 600cc portion of the Dream at the Green.

Just as he's done with his previous two endeavors, Allegrucci is tweaking a few things for this year's Dream.

He's keeping the format the same as last year, with Time Trials leading off the big show on April 6. Viper Chassis will present the 270cc Fast Time Award, while Edge Chassis will do likewise for the 600's.

The timed runs will be followed by 16-lap Qualifiers, offering passing points and a payout to the top 16 finishers. The top four drivers in points (after the qualifiers) will be locked into Sunday's Dash and A-Main.

The 270cc Qualifiers are sponsored by Stolz Stove Sales, DBY Motorsports, and SAF Chassis, while the 600cc Qualifier races are backed by Hyper Racing and 2 Pug Designs.

Heat races will follow the Qualifiers, with heat winners receiving a cash bonus and also a spot in the Dash and A-Main on Sunday. The qualifying heats will complete Saturday's portion of the two-day program.

Supporting the 270cc heats are DRE Race Engines and Perchak Trucking. The 600cc heats will be sponsored by TSL Shocks.

On Sunday, April 7, the alphabet mains begin, with a last chance C-Main leading things off, followed by the Dash. One final opportunity to transfer to the feature race - the B-Main - will round out the preliminary events. The 40-lap A-Mains, each one paying $1,500 to win, close the show on Sunday.

R.A. Ahner Furniture (270cc) and 2 Pug Designs (600cc) will sponsor the Dash races.

The race format is the same for both divisions, and only the 270cc and 600cc Micros are on the Dream's menu throughout the entire weekend.

Allegrucci trimmed the winner's share from last year's $2,000 to this season's $1,500; still a mighty good payday for a Micro-Sprint event. And he increased the purse from fourth to 24th, which should make a lot of racers happy.

The runner-up in each A-Main gets $1,200, while third place pays $750. Fifth-place finishers will receive $545, while a tenth-place effort will result in a $230 pay envelope.

Taking the green will earn a driver $100 at this year's Dream.

The Hard Charger in the 270cc A-Main will earn a cash bonus, courtesy of Skeetz Built Motors.

Allegrucci's other "tweak" comes in the way the C and B-Mains will be lined up...rather than reverting to time trial results, as he did last year, Nunzi will line up the last chance qualifiers by heat race finishes.

There's a Pre-Entry discount for those who sign up early; the entry fee is $60 if the form is postmarked on or before March 23. The entry fee increases to $85 after the 23rd of March.

The Econo Lodge of Bloomsburg is once again the official hotel of the Dream at the Green. They are offering a special rate of $69.99 per night for the race weekend; mention the "racer's rate" when calling to place reservations.

And the Quaker Steak & Lube of Bloomsburg, located next to the Econo Lodge, will serve as the official restaurant for the Dream, offering a 10% discount on food offerings during race weekend. On Saturday, April 6, the Lube will be the site of an after-race party, remaining open until 1:30 a.m. (the kitchen will be open until 12:30 a.m.). There will be a live band and racers will have the chance to unwind after a busy qualifying night at the track.

The Lube, as it did in 2012, will also host a Dream at the Green Press Conference, scheduled for Sunday, March 24, at 11 a.m. The press conference is open to the public.

Drivers set to participate in Sunday's press conference include 2012 Greenwood Valley Action Track point champions Ed Kenderdine (270cc) and Jake Starr (600cc), along with Shane Lewis, Tyler Walton, Jake Starr, and Kyle Lick (all competing in the 600cc portion of the Dream). From the 270cc division, Ross Perchak and Rob Pajauis will attend. And two drivers who are planning double-duty on Dream weekend, Mike Rutherford and Brandon Edgar, will also take part in the press conference.

In 2011, Allegrucci presented his first event at Greenwood Valley. It was a big race just for the 270's, with track regular Sean Stolz taking home the winner's share of the purse. Rutherford, who took a $10,000 challenge to try and win after starting dead last in the talented field, stormed through heavy traffic to finish a fast-closing third behind Stolz and Ryan Smith.

Last season, with the event expanded to include the 600's, Nunzi drew an incredible 64-car field of the 600cc ground pounders, along with 56 of the 270's. The second day was rained out after an exciting night of qualifying action on Saturday. Two weeks after the Dream began, it culminated with Mike Rutherford claiming the $2,000 victory in the 270cc A-Main and Ryan Smith winning a similar amount of cash in the 600cc headliner.

While Stolz and Rutherford will return for this year's edition of the Dream, Smith's 410 Sprint Car committments will most likely prevent him from trying to repeat his victory of one year ago.
