SPONSORS ADDING LUCRATIVE MONEY AND PRIZES TO ICEBREAKER WEEKEND V AT SELINSGROVE… NO INCREASE IN ADMISSION PRICES DESPITE PURSE INCREASE

            Selinsgrove, Pa.    In just five short weeks the highly anticipated Icebreaker Weekend V at Selinsgrove for the Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour takes place on March 16th and 17th with a rain date of March 18th at the Selinsgrove Speedway.
            Just like in the previous four editions many loyal sponsors of auto racing have signed on to sponsor a variety of special awards for this weekend of racing. The racers the past four years have enjoyed receiving this additional money or gift certificates that are awarded to them from these loyal sponsors.
            Selinsgrove Speedway track promoter Charlie Paige has announced that despite an increase in the purse for the Icebreaker Weekend V, there will be no increase in admission prices from last year. Once again this year race fans with a Friday grandstand admission ticket will receive a two dollar discount for grandstand admission on Saturday.
            Leading the list of returning sponsors for the fifth consecutive year is Middleswarth Potato Chips. Jeff Goff of Middleswarth Potato Chips has increased their involvement for the Icebreaker V Weekend at Selinsgrove. On Saturday the traditional Middleswarth Potato Chips Cash Dash will be held with all heat race winners running in a three lap $300 winner takes all event.
          New this year will be the Middleswarth Potato Chips Non – Qualifiers Feature that will see all racers not making the feature event on Saturday having an opportunity to race and earn cash money. “ Middleswarth Potato Chips is proud to sponsor this fantastic event at the Selinsgrove Speedway “ said Goff. “ We at Middleswarth also recognize that not all racers are able to race in the featured event of the weekend and that is why we decided to sponsor the Non Qualifiers Feature. The Middleswarth Potato Chip Non Qualifiers Feature is an excellent way to give those racers who work very hard in getting their racing machines ready for racing an opportunity to take some cash money home with them. “
          Two more sponsors have signed up for the fifth consecutive year with their sponsorship support of the Icebreaker Weekend V at Selinsgrove. On Saturday Shiley’s Fabrication of Williamstown, Pa. will be awarding each heat race winner a $50 gift certificate. Also on Saturday Zemco Speed Equipment of Tower City, Pa. will be awarding each heat race winner a $50 gift certificate.
          Also for the fifth consecutive year former NHRA Drag Racer Max Naylor and his lovely wife Jane who own Reaction Graffix in New Buffalo, Pa. have produced the winners’ check for both nights of racing. Also for the fifth consecutive year Reaction Graffix has produced and installed a beautiful tailgate wrap that is on the JGK Motorsports Pace Vehicle.
          For the third consecutive year Billy Colton of Troyer Race Cars and Parts are a huge supporter of the Icebreaker Weekend V at Selinsgrove. Each night the top three feature finishers using a Troyer Chassis will be winners of the Troyer Race Cars and Parts Performance Award. The top three finishers both nights will receive a Troyer Race Cars and Parts gift certificate.
          Also for the third consecutive year former race car mechanic and race fan Jack Bagley will be remembered with the Jack Bagley Dedication to Auto Racing Memorial Award. This award is worth $100 cash and is sponsored on Saturday by JGK Motorsports.
          The winner of the 40 lap feature on Saturday will receive a Guaranteed Starting Spot for the Tuesday June 19th School’s Out Modified Shootout at the Selinsgrove Speedway, this is worth $300 cash.
          On Saturday the first legal small block to cross the finish line will receive a $500 cash bonus.
If a driver has that dream weekend and they sweep the weekend of racing and capture a majority of the special awards currently that driver can go home with $11,000 in cash and prizes.
          The Icebreaker Weekend V at Selinsgrove gets underway on Friday March 16th with all gates opening at 5 pm. A drivers meeting will be held at 6:45 pm with hot laps to follow and the first heat getting the green at 7:30 pm. A complete show of RoC sanctioned 358 Modifieds will be on the card with heats, consi’s, Non Qualifiers Feature, and a 25 lap $2,200 to win $300 to start feature on tap. Joining the action on Friday night will be the RoC big block Modifieds who will be receiving hot laps.
          On Saturday March 17th the grounds will be cleared at 1:30 pm with all gates opening at 2 pm. A drivers meeting will be held at 3:15 pm with hot laps to follow and the first heat getting the green at 4 pm. A complete show of RoC Modifieds will be held with heats, consi’s, Non Qualifiers’ Feature, and a 40 lap $5,000 to win $300 to start feature.
          In case of inclement weather on either day a Sunday March 18th rain date has been reserved with all gates opening at Noon and the first heat at 2 pm.
          For the RoC points the driver’s best finish on the weekend will count towards the South Region Championship.

          Currently all motel rooms for Friday are sold out in Selinsgrove, however there are still motel rooms available nearby in Lewisburg, Dansville, and Bloomsburg. There are plenty of hotel rooms available for Saturday in Selinsgrove and the Comfort Inn 570-374-8880 in Selinsgrove is offering a special racers rate.
