READING, PA - Race enthusiasts have plenty to look forward to at the 26th annual Racing Legends Reunion & Car Show.

The Feb. 20-26 local motorsports kickoff at the Fairgrounds Square Mall - on the site of the former Reading Fairgrounds Speedway - has the support of the Reading Eagle newspaper and WEEU 830 AM to provide the show and its exhibitors with unparalleled exposure for the second consecutive year.

Each day beginning Feb. 20 and running through Feb. 26, the Reading Eagle will dedicate a full page to the show with nostalgia and current-day auto racing photos featured, along with that day's schedule of events. The show pages were a hit last year and quickly became collector's items. Advertising is available on the show pages by calling Reading Eagle rep Lori Gerhart at 610.371.5103.

WEEU 830 AM plans a two-hour live broadcast from center court Wednesday (Feb. 23) from 3-5 p.m. featuring personalities from the famed 'Home of Champions' Reading Fairgrounds, which hosted its final event in 1979. The Berks County Historical Society sponsors the broadcast anchored by Reading-area auto racing expert Keith Fritz and WEEU's Jo Painter.

Additionally, the Reading Eagle digital billboard on Route 422 entering Reading is set promote the show and its activities.

"Auto racing past, present and future" is the theme of the Racing Legends Reunion and the show will include stars of today with current-day cars, tomorrow with go-karts, Quarter Midgets and small cars, and the past with restored vehicles and the tireless efforts of the Reading Fairgrounds Speedway Racing Historical Society.

More than 100 race cars in total will jam the 5th Street Highway mall for the BD Motorsports Media-organized event. Registration is ongoing at http://www.bdmotorsportsmedia.com/. Space is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Veteran car owner Norm Hansell's dirt Modified is set to be among the cars on display at the show. Hansell plans to unveil the 2011 edition of his famed Hansell Motorsports No. 357 car that will be driven by multi-time champion Jeff Strunk this season at Big Diamond (Pa.) Speedway and Grandview (Pa.) Speedway.

Making a return to the Racing Legends Reunion & Car Show with a car on display after many years away is Craig Von Dohren, the all-time winningest driver on the Pennsylvania Dual-Track circuit. Von Dohren, of Boyertown, Pa., will be available to meet fans during the week. Watch the show schedule for details.

A number of speedways and sanctioning bodies plan to have displays and information on the '11 season at the show. Area speed shops J&L Speed Supplies and BFP Specialty will be represented. The RAACE Foundation has an expansive display planned. Vendors will have racing collectibles, souvenirs and more on sale. The Checkered Flag Fan Club plans to sign up and renew memberships at the show.

Activities are planned during the weeklong event for attendees, including Pioneer Pole Buildings Inc. Open Wheel Night Monday (Feb. 21), Reading Plastic Fabricators Small Car Night Tuesday (Feb. 22), BFP Specialty Modified Madness Night Wednesday (Feb. 23) and Four Star Lettering Late Model & Sportsman Night Thursday (Feb. 24).

Friday night (Feb. 25) during the show is reserved for the annual Reading Fairgrounds Speedway Reunion. This year, the evening is dedicated to the memory of legendary announcer Warren Ruffner, whose voice and charisma is synonymous with racing at Reading.

After the show closes Friday, attention turns to the Temple Fire Company for the annual BASH Awards Party. The highlight Don Marks Memorial Contribution to Motorsports Award will be presented along with the overall Best of Show distinction (voted by show attendees) and divisional award winners. The BASH begins at 9 p.m. with music for dancing from DJ Jammin' Jimmy Payne, racing videos courtesy of Gary Silverman Productions and a cash bar. Tickets are sold at the show and at the door. Manmiller Electric has signed on as the awards sponsor for this year's BASH.
