GROOVIN WITH THE GEEZER…

QUICK RESULTS:

As team 22 nears the halfway point in the season with the new challenge of the modified division, it has been a great challenge in many ways. Qualifying for 6 features, and winning a heat race against the best in the business have the team striving for better results and our plan is to continue to gain experience and the respect of all competitors in the division. Saturday nightwe ran side by side with Addison Meitzler on the low groove and Geezer up top leading the pack until lap ten of twelve when a caution bunched the field for a 2 lap shootout. Suddenly Meitzler,  Duane Howard, Frank Cozze, Kevin Hirthler, Ryan Grim, Kory Fleming and Kenny Gilmore joined the battle up front as we held on to qualify 4th by only thousands of a second over Gilmore. Started the 30 lap feature up front and ran top 5 for a few laps before getting caught in a ‘jingle’, resulting in being put to the rear of the 28 car field. A 23rd place finish wasn’t the best on paper, but Geezer liked a few changes that were made and learned a lot for the night… onto the next one. Congrats to Mike Gular and his entire Stankewitz owned  #2 team on their first ever TP Trailer 358 Whelen All American NASCAR Modified feature win !! A quick thanks also to those who check in weekly, you know who you are, much appreciated.

GEEZER GAB:

·         A huge congrats to Danny Lane and his #25X team as they won their feature Saturday night at Lanco !! Danny was telling me today that is has been 14 weeks since he finished a race, let alone win it. The kid has many more wins coming, but it’s never easy. My friend Ernie Saxton said: ‘’If it were easy, everyone would be doing it’’… so very true. Good job team 25X , the Buch Power, Adams Auto Sales car got the job done without some front end parts to boot !! Big Dan owes me a coffee for the win. Danny is washing my mod as I type this… it’s part of a deal we have… LOL.
·         Sean Weiss returned to action Saturday night in his pristine looking #24 Sportsman. Crew chief Chuck was happy with a 13th place finish in their feature for the first time out in over a year. More good news to come from that camp I’m sure. Good folks.
·         Congrats to Chuck Schutz on winning the BRC Late Model Firecracker 40 Saturday night at Grandview… the ‘’big one’’ for the Grandview Late Model guys as they had 21 cars signed in for the extra distance, extra purse event.
·         Congrats Craig Whitmoyer and Brad Grim on their wins Saturday night in the 2 Sportsman features, and Mike Gular in the ods as mentioned above. Andy Cassel this year’s KAM Fueled Racing driver won the B class Vintage car race, and then finished 11th in the Late Model main… the #4 won the A class vintage feature. A lot of racing Saturday night for sure. My friends Todd Lapp finished 5th in the A class and Mike Kelly finished like 9th.
·         The #46 Super Late Model owned by the Green’s of Coatesville, Pa. will head to Bridgeport tomorrow evening for a special show at the ½ mile dirt oval. Dan has enjoyed the new challenges of the new division and is excited for his best finish sure to come soon.
·         A special thanks to Todd Lapp whom cleared a carb problem for the Geezer Saturday as I literally was warming the car up for hot laps… thank you Todd for your devotion even when you had your own car to get bready… I attribute that extra cleaning to finishing 4th by a couple  thousandths of a second over Gilmore…LOL
·         Thank you Checkered Flag Bakery for a wonderfully delicious banana cake !! Thanks also to Kate Lesher for the box of Munchkins for the ride home. LOL
·         A Ernie Saxton tip of the fedora to Sleepy Hollow Race Team for their bike giveaway Saturday night at the track !!! The #704 Modified driven by Korey Fleming gave away over a dozen bicycles to kids that signed up pre-race for the giveaway. A very nice gesture and a great group of folks on that team.
