As hard as its been to qualify, or even finish lately… gotta make it sound good right!! LOL
QUICK RESULTS:
First and foremost: Get well wishes from team 22 go to fellow modified competitor Danny Erb and sportsman racer Mike Mammana. Danny suffered a mild heart attack during the evening Saturday in the pits so the EMS team got him to Lehigh hospital where he received medical attention and is expected to fully recover. Danny is one of the nicest guys you’d ever meet at the track, and a winner many times in the mods… a true ambassador of the sport. Mike Mammana wrecked hard during the sportsman main event and was transported to the hospital where he had some injuries they wanted to take a closer look at, I understand he will be fine and will be back shortly. Get well guys !! Although we compete hard on track, no one likes to see a competitor injured.
Thank you to the 22 crew Saturday night ! Wendy, Cathy, Jim and Todd were awesome!! Couldn’t keep up with all the changes throughout the night without a crew, a lot of work and a tough slave driver at times, but Geezer sure appreciates all the efforts. Team #22 lined up in the qualifying heat race 2nd, set fast time @81.46 for the race, jumped out to take the lead into turn 1 for the 12 lap event and never looked back winning our first ever heat race in the 358 mods !! The team (and driver) were all excited and relieved that things went so well and we could hang on for the win against some of the best in the business. The 28 car feature event saw the #22 as high as 2nd place after a few laps, but after some contact we dropped to an 18thplace feature event finish with some missing bolts from front end… overall a welcome night of action considering the past few weekends of bad luck. We will straighten some things out, work on a carb issue and be ready for action again this Saturday.
