Georgetown Speedway Postpones Sept. 30 Program To Friday, October 14; NASCAR Hall of Fame Driver Bobby Allison To Return, Will Serve As Grand Marshall


GEORGETOWN, DE – An historic rain event that dropped more than 10 inches of rain on Delmarva, closed roads and prompted widespread flooding has claimed the Friday, September 30 ‘Showdown’ event at Georgetown Speedway.

The event has been postponed to Friday, October 14.
NASCAR Hall of Fame driver Bobby Allison was slated to serve as ‘Grand Marshall’ for the September 30 program. Fortunately for Delaware race fans, Allison has been able to clear his schedule and will return to Georgetown on the 14th for a fan meet and greet/autograph session thanks to Stockley Tavern.
The event will be headlined by a 25-lap, $3,000-to-win, $250-to-start event for the big-block/small-block Modifieds. Also on the card will be a 20-lap Super Late Model event for $2,000 to win. Both the Modifieds and Super Late Models will offer guaranteed starting positions for the Mid-Atlantic Championship weekend in November. 
Joining the Super Late Models and big-block/small-block Modifieds, Crate 602 Sportsman, Southern Delaware Vintage Cars, Little Lincolns, Delmarva Chargers and Delaware Super Trucks.

Pit gates will open at 4 p.m. Grandstands open at 5 p.m.  Racing gets underway at 6:20 p.m., with racing at 7:15 p.m.
Grandstand admission is $18 for Adults, $14 for Seniors (ages 65 and up) and Students (ages 13-17). Kids 9-12 are $10. Children eight and under are FREE. Pit admission is $30 with no license required.
Georgetown Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
