WOODHULL, NY – In 2015, it was the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By VP "race of the summer!"
In just one week, it happens again for the Halmar International North Region competitors at Woodhull Raceway.
On Tuesday, August 16, the paperclip-shaped, one-third-mile track gains the spotlight with the ‘Hustlin’ the High Banks’ 52 for the STSS big-block/small-block Modifieds, a 52-lap event offering the most lucrative payout all season at the Ted White-owned facility.
A hefty $5,200 is reserved for the winner in celebration of 52 years of racing at Woodhull, with 10th-place offering $1,000 and $400 to take the green flag.
The night’s festivities are presented by NAPA Auto Parts of Addison & Corning, Maple City Dodge, Two Rivers Timber and Outman Equipment.
Last year, the STSS made its debut at Woodhull and thrilled the crowd. After an extended side-by-side battle, Stewart Friesen of Sprakers, N.Y., edged local star Dylan Dewert for the victory. Dewert, using the outside lane, had repelled Friesen’s advances for much of the race. Danny Johnson, Tyler Siri and Josh Nobriga completed the front five.
This season, the STSS Halmar International North Region has hosted six events with six different winners!
Most recently, Ringoes, N.J., driver Ryan Godown invaded N.Y.’s I-88 Speedway and topped the ‘Crazy 8s Special’ earning more than $9,000. Other winners have included Friesen (N.Y.’s Accord); Matt Sheppard (N.Y.’s Outlaw); Chad Cook (N.Y.’s Thunder Mountain); Ryan Watt (Pa.’s Big Diamond – combination); and Tommy Meier (N.Y.’s Orange County).
Ransomville, N.Y., driver Erick Rudolph has been a model of consistency on the tour this season and finds himself atop the point standings. Rudolph holds an advantage of 25 points over Andy Bachetti of Sheffield, Mass.

Joining the STSS Modifieds on the card are the GRIT Series Crate 602 Sportsman racing for $1,000 to win and a Quad C Challenge.
A rain date for the event is in place for Wednesday, August 17.
