Jonestown, PA – In March, Jim Bernheisel, President of Bernheisel Race Components, made a commitment to five local dirt tracks in Central and Eastern Pennsylvania. Now, at season’s end it can be shown that Bernheisel Race Components provided over $60,000 in awards, parts, and cash to the late models, limited late models and econo late models at Grandview Port Royal, Selinsgrove, Susquehanna, and Williams Grove Speedways.
The Super Late Models at Port Royal and Selinsgrove, the Limited Late Models at Grandview, Susquehanna, and Williams Grove and the Econo Late Models at Port Royal were part of the Bernheisel Race Components Local Racers’ program that included special Superior Products Nights as well as season long programs rewarding champions, hard chargers, rookies of the year and generally weekly racers.
“We care about our sport and particularly late model racing, and we felt there was a need to set up a program that would be to help the local racers and their tracks,” commented Jim Bernheisel. “Local racing is the backbone of our sport and we are a local company supporting local racers with this program.”
Each of the tracks hosted a BRC Superior Products Night. In each of these nights every competitor in attendance for the division included, received racing parts with real value. Bernheisel partnered with parts suppliers and manufacturers to provide over $25,000 in real components and parts. The only requirements to the competitors was that on that night they display Bernheisel Race Components decals on the left and right sides of their cars to be eligible.
“Sure we build LazerX race cars but this is about all late model racers no matter what they race,” continued Bernheisel. “We have a complete warehouse of parts for all cars and we have our powder coating shop as well. These Superior Product Nights were and are for all drivers.”
In addition to the Superior Products Nights each track had a further specific sponsorship program. The Super Late Models at Port Royal and Selinsgrove Speedways had their Hard Charger Award sponsored by BRC and the track champion was eligible to win $1,000 assuming he carried a BRC decal on the sides of the car throughout the season. If that champion drove a Lazer to the championship, instead of the $1000 he would have received a new LazerX chassis worth over $4000. The Econo Late Models at Port Royal, had the same incentive and sticker requirement except the champion honors were $500 from BRC or if he drove a Lazer, that amount was increased to $1000
The Limited Late Models at Susquehanna and Williams Grove had sponsorship for their Rookie of the Year and the track champion was treated as in the Supers with the $1000 or chassis rewards.
Champions earning $1000 were Billy Wampler (Williams Grove), Mike Lupfer (Port Royal) and Chase Billet (Susquehanna). Econo champ at Port Royal was Andrew Yoder and he earned $500 from BRC. Hard charger awards went to Mike Lupfer and Eric Ervan at Port Royal. The Williams Grove Rookie of the Year honors went to Daulton Bigler while the Susquehanna RotY was Kyle Moser. The Selinsgrove champion and hard charger elected not to participate and carry the required signage.
At Grandview Speedway, Bernheisel sponsored the Hard Charger Award won by track champion Chuck Schutz. In lieu of the champion’s award the track preferred BRC sponsor a weekly late model tire giveaway. Each night a tire was to be given away by the luck of the draw of all late models. Each driver could only win one time and at the end of the year, any driver that participated in all late model events during the season who had not won a tire during the year was given a tire.
BRC is more than just a chassis and complete car builder. Bernheisel Race Components has an extensive warehouse of wholesale and retail parts plus tubing, aluminum, lexan, plastic, body kits and complete bodies. They have a large walk-in showroom but also do mail order and online order processing. They supply parts for all cars, not just BRC Lazers.
