Watt, always a strong competitor "on the hill," is missing the bragging rights accompanied with a Thunder on the Hill Racing Series event victory. On Saturday night, when NAPA Auto Parts presents this Halloween Party gone MAD, Watt hopes to be standing on the coveted black and white checkered victory lane. In the meantime, he will not walk under any ladders and will avoid crossing the path of a black cat.
The Mods at the Madhouse 40 will not only pay a lucrative $5,000 to the winner, but $1,000 to finish in the tenth position and $500 to start the main event. Gates will open at 4 PM with heat race qualifying getting underway at 6 PM
The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series will showcase a spine-tingling three-division show headlined by a 358 Modified/Big Block event which will include qualifying heat race plus qualifying and feature events for the Sportsman and the TSRS Sprints.
Watt is not the only driver looking to grab the biggest treat, Grandview ghouls include: 2015 Track Champion Craig VonDohren, Duane Howard, Jeff Strunk, Doug Manmiller, Frank Cozze, Kenny Gilmore, Kevin Hirthler, Danny Erb, Kyle Weiss, Jared Umbenhauer, Ray Swinehart, plus invading drivers like Billy Pauch Jr., Jimmy Horton, Sammy Martz, Ryan Krachun, Mike Franz, David Hunt, Eric Engstrom and others are all set to haunt the hill.
There is no entry fee but competitors are encouraged to pre-enter by calling 443-513-4456. Pre-entered competitors will compete for a $5,000 top prize. If the winner is not pre-entered the winner's share will be $4,000. All other positions will be paid as posted to include $500 just to start the 40 lap feature. Double file restarts will be in place for the 40 lap feature up to lap 38.
Joining the Modifieds on Saturday, October 17 (Raindate: October 24) will be the Sportsman, competing in a 25-lap feature event paying $1,300 to the winner. 2015 Track Champion Brett Kressley was among the first entries received, and Freedom 38 winner Craig Whitmoyer has also pre-entered for this event.
All Sportsman competitors are welcome to attend with full qualifying heat races and a consolation event on the schedule.
Also on the schedule is a full program of TSRS Sprint Cars with a 25-lap main event, heats, and a consolation.
Race fans young and old are encouraged to dress in costume to be eligible for special Halloween treats, a tradition of this event for many, many years. The Halloween Party remains a big part of this event.
General Admission ticket pricing for Saturday, October 17 is $25 for Adults, Children 6-11 are $10 and Kids 5 & under are FREE! The pit fee is $35 and a license is not required. A rain date of Saturday night, October 24 is in place.
