A $10,000 PAYDAY AWAITS THE VICTOR OF BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY’S ROMP IN THE SWAMP CALL BEFORE YOU DIG CHAMPIONSHIP
Sicklerville, NJ (September 21, 2015) – A $10,000 payday awaits the winner of Bridgeport Speedway’s Romp in the Swamp Call Before You Dig Championship on Saturday, September 26. This event for any type of dirt Modified stock car is set to take place on the quarter mile oval.
A very diverse field of racers is anticipated to be on hand. Scott Ambruster, Tom Carberry Sr., Jeff Heotzler, Brett Kressley, Sam Martz, Ernie Miles and Joe Nappi are just a few of the latest names expected to compete against Corey Andersen, Kyle Borror, Bobby Butler, Clay Butler, Mike Butler, Lou Cicconi, Bob Drayton, Jason Duppel, Lauren Emmons, Dale Hawkins, Matt Hawkins, Frank Holmes, Jimmy Horton, Scott Hulmes, David Hunt, Mike Iles, Richie Pratt, Jr., Brad Roberts, Ron Roberts, DJ Ruppert, Jeff Sargent, Bob Sarkisian, Pete Serra, Ryan Watt, and Ricky Wegner.
A creatively designed format will be employed for this event. All competitors will compete in time trials and the top five will automatically advance to the 40-lap main event. The remaining drivers will attempt to qualify for the feature race by competing in sub-main events. The first sub-main will showcase the bottom time trailers competing in the first of a series of 10-lap sub main races. The top five finishers from this initial contest will advance into the next race and face the next set of five slowest qualifiers for another 10-lap event. This sequence of races with the top five finishers advancing will continue up to the main event.
The fourteen car field for the main event will be rounded out by four additional starters. Jimmy Horton, the Modified 811 Dig Safely Series champion, is a guaranteed starter in the event. If he does not qualify by time or through the sub-main events, he will start in eleventh. If Horton does qualify for the race, the sixth place finisher in the B-Main event will be awarded the eleventh place starting position in the 40-lap feature. In addition, any non-qualified driver who competed in each race of the five Modified 811 Dig Safely Series will have their name placed into a random drawing. The driver whose name is pulled will start the main event in twelfth place. If this driver is unable to start the race, the seventh place finisher in the B-main will be awarded the twelfth place starting spot. Any non-qualified driver that won a track championship in a dirt Modified style race car will have their name placed in another drawing. The lucky competitor whose name is pulled will start the feature in thirteenth place. If the driver can’t compete in the feature, this starting spot will be awarded to the eighth place finisher in the B-Main. The final and fourteenth starting spot will be chosen by a fan vote. Upon completing their entry form, a driver can select and submit their payment for the option to be included in the fan vote contest. Upon entrance to the speedway, each attendee will receive a ballot. Each completed form will be deposited into a ballot box and counted. The driver who did not qualify for the event but receives the most votes will start the 40-lap feature in fourteenth position. Entry forms and rules for the Romp in the Swamp Call Before You Dig Championship are available at www.bpspeedway.com under the forms and rules tab.
Upon entering the gates of the speedway, fans will be greeted by a Colonial Pipeline display where hot dogs will be served at no charge. All spectators will receive the free food after completing a brief survey about the 811 system. 811 is the federally designated phone number that helps homeowners and professionals avoid buried utilities beneath the surface of the earth that are vital to everyday living like water, electricity, and natural gas.
In addition to the Modifieds, the wingless 600cc Micro-Sprints will be on the docket. On Saturday, September 26, the pit gates will open at 2:30 p.m. Action will get underway at 6:30 p.m. Adult grandstand tickets are $25 with student admission at $10. Kids 9 and under are admitted for free. Pit passes for this event are $35. Sunday, September 27 has been reserved as the rain date for this race.
