TWO NIGHTS OF RACING AT THE BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY THIS WEEKEND

The Bridgeport Speedway has two big nights of racing on tap for this coming weekend with Friday night action returning to the quarter mile on Friday night and then a three divisional show on the 5/8 mile track on Saturday evening.

There will be a Rat Rod Show and Exhibition at the Bridgeport Speedway this weekend on both Friday and Saturday nights.

The qualifier for the Bill Thomas Memorial Race takes place on Friday night as the 600cc & 270cc Micros return to action along with the 4 Cylinder Enduro Cars.  (The Bill Thomas Memorial is just two weeks away as it takes center stage on Saturday night, October 18th.)  The Modfieds return to the quarter mile track this Friday night as well as they compete in the Rock & Roll 33.  Lou Cicconi was the race winner when the Modifieds last ran on the quarter mile.  Cicconi will be looking for another win on Friday night as he joins the field for the Rock & Roll 33 - 33 laps around the quarter mile track.  Friday night racing gets underway at 8pm to allow everyone plenty of time to get to the track after work!

The attention moves to the 5/8 mile speedway on Saturday as the Spirit Dodge Big Block Modifieds, 811 Dig Safely Crate/Sportsman and Stewart Stainless Outlaw Stocks compete in the Bonus Hand for the Poker Series.  It's still anybody's game in the Big Block Modifieds as Dominic Buffalino leads the way with a pair of 8s and a Queen.  Young Sammy Piazza follows with a pair of 5s and a 3 while 2014 Bridgeport Champion, Jimmy Horton has an Ace, Jack, 7 and 5.  A win for any of the previous winners - Horton, Duane Howard or Ryan Watt would produce a pair of Aces which could lead the field at the end of the night.

Jesse James Bonaduce has the leading hand in the Crate/Sportsman with a pair of Kings and an 8.  Mike Hendershot has a pair of 3s, and 8 and a 5 while race winners Steve Davis, Jesse Hill and Steve Searock each have an Ace that they would love to pair up with another.
Ron Frees has the best hand to date in the Outlaw Stocks as he sits with three Aces.  Billy Wroble as a pair of 10s and a 9 while Jeramy Doerr has a King, Queen and a 9.

The Bonus Hand can only help a driver.  And there's additional money on the line as well.    The Modifieds will race for $2,500 to win and $250 to take the green.  The Crate/Sportsman have $750 going to the winner with $100 to take the green.  The Outlaw Stocks will pay $400 to the winner $50 to start.

There will be an Alex's Lemonade Stand on hand on Saturday, courtesy of a young man by the name of Mario Carpino.  Mario has been fighting his own battle with cancer for several years but made the decision to raise money for more cancer research so that he would not lose any more of his friends to this dreaded disease.  Mario's goal is to raise $50,000 and you can do your part by coming out to Bridgeport on Saturday and supporting Mario's cause!

There has been a change made to Saturday's schedule.  The Demolition Derby has been cancelled for this weekend but there will be mechanics races held for each division at the end of the night.  Now the guys that are usually out of the limelight - the guys who are turning the wrenches - will have their chance behind the wheel!

Racing action gets underway at 6:30pm on Saturday.

He is always smiling and trying to make others happy .
Mario's courageous spirit doesn't stop him from fighting his battle with brain
tumors and for raising money for a cure for pediatric cancer. Three years go,
Mario came up with the idea to hold a Lemonade Stand to do is part to raise money
so he wouldn't loose any more friends to this horrible disease. Each year
Mario's Stand has grown and far surpassed even Mario's high expectations.
the past 4 years have beena rough for Mario. He lost a lot of close friends
to this monster of a disease and we fight in their memory. This year our goal
is to raise $50,000 and we hope to raise that in Loving Memory of Leah, Jenna,
Lenny, Christopher, John, and Shayla. We also hope to raise this amount in Honor
of our HOMETOWN HEROS Mario, Maddie, Jake and all the other children who are fighting
for a cure. I WISH I CAN TAKE CANCER AWAY FROM THESE BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN ,BUT I CAN'T !
I WILL CONTINUE TO RAISE MONEY SO A CURE CAN BE FOUND AND NO CHILD WOULD EVER HAVE
TO SUFFER . SO PLEASE FIND IT IN YOUR HEART TO DONATE . EVERY DOLLAR HELPS !

Mario's Fight is a group of family, friends, and community supports who stand behind
our hero, Mario Carpino, and his fight against childhood cancer!!
