BARONE RACKS UP ANOTHER TOP TEN FINISH AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY
Sicklerville, NJ (June 9, 2014) – To win a championship at Bridgeport Speedway, good finishes in point awarding feature events are a necessity. On Saturday, June 7, Mike Barone drove his #267 Big Block Modified to another top ten finish in the 25-lap Spirit Dodge feature.
Barone started his night of racing by qualifying for the main event by finishing sixth in the second heat race. Prior to the main event, the team worked on some adjustments to the car. “We made some adjustments with the shocks and the pressures,” commented the driver from Hillsborough, NJ. Coming from fifteenth place in the main event, Barone quickly moved forward. By the fifth circuit, Barone had advanced into sixth. Following a caution period and double file restart on the twelfth lap, a scramble for several positions in the top ten pushed Barone back to ninth. During the remainder of the contest, Barone would oscillate between eighth and ninth place and completed the race in eighth. Barone owes a lot of his success to his engine that was built by Larry Lombardo. “The motor is definitely stout. Larry builds a mean motor,” stated Barone. For the year, Barone sits in fifth place in the chase for the 2014 Big Block Modified title. He will be back in action on Saturday, June 14 at Bridgeport Speedway as the Spirit Dodge Big Block Modifieds will be participating in a special event with sail panels added to the cars.
