BIG DIAMOND MONEY IN THE MOUNTAINS RACE CONTINUES TO GROW/MATCH RACES ANNOUNCED FOR DIRTCAR SHOW
MINERSVILLE, PA - February 3rd, 2014
With each day that passes, the awards continue to grow for the 2nd annual Money in the Mountains big block/small block challenge race at Big Diamond Speedway on Friday, April 4th, 2014. The Modifieds are set to go 40 laps for a cool $7,500 to win and $500 to take the green. Lap money is also being collected for this event, and is now at well over $750. Should the winning driver be able to lead every lap, they would now go home with over $8,250 for their efforts on the 3/8 mile oval. Also on the card will be the seasons first appearance of the Jeremy Slifko Fabrication Services Late Models, along with the Savage 61 Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram Roadrunners, both going 20 laps in their feature events. Rain date for this event is Sunday, April 6th.
Three contingency awards have also been announced for the Money in the Mountains race. The first two will benefit two race teams that fail to qualify for the main event. The 2nd annual "Fans of Big Diamond/Dog Pound" Hard Luck Award is going to pay a minimum of $400 to a team chosen by track management as the hard luck driver of the evening. Meme Desantis, last years winner of this award, took home over $700. Donations are still being collected, so no one quite knows what this years final amount will be. New this year will be the "Long" Haul Award. The driver who tows the furthest and fails to qualify for the main event will take home a minimum of $125. Donations are still being collected for this award too, so the final amount is yet to be determined. Also added within the past few days is the Jeremy Slifko Fabrication Services halfway bonus paying $150 to the leader at the halfway point of the race. Just three more reasons for teams to attend the 2nd annual Money in the Mountains event.
Also, just announced over the weekend is the "Battle Before the Brawl" match races that will be held during the "Big Block Brawl" Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modified race on Tuesday, July 15th, 2014. The "Big Block Brawl", scheduled for 75 laps and paying $6,000 to the winner/$300 to take the green, marks the return of the DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds for the first time since Duane Howard won a Super DIRTcar Big-Block Modified Series race there in 2009. The "Battle Before the Brawl" is a series of match races pitting the top 4 in DIRTcar points versus the top 4 in Big Diamond Modified points at the time of this event. Each match race will pay $75 to the winner, with the overall winner pocketing $500 for just a few laps of work.
Just a few more reasons to attend what are becoming "must see" events during the 2014 season at Big Diamond Speedway.
