BIG MONEY EVENTS AND ADDITIONAL INCENTIVES HIGHLIGHT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY’S WILD CARD WEEKEND

Bridgeport, NJ (November 11, 2013) – At Bridgeport Speedway’s Wild Card Weekend on Friday, November 15 and Saturday, November 16, racers will be competing for big money and a wide assortment of additional incentives.

On Friday, the two-day season ending show gets underway with a three-division program. The Small Block Modifieds headline the show as they will battle in a 30-lap feature paying $3000 to the victor, $500 for tenth and $225 to start the main event.  In addition, the victor of the Small Block Modified feature will earn a guaranteed starting spot at Accord Speedway’s Gobbler race on Saturday, November 30.The Fallen Friends 20 will serve as the fourth round of Black Flagged Racing’s Outlaw Stock Car Shoot-Out Series. The winner of this special race that honors Marty Kulesza, the late sponsor of the full-fendered division at Bridgeport Speedway, will go home with at least $500. The TSRS Sprint Cars will round out the first night of action with a 20-lap main event after timed dashes and an invert/pill draw.

The Big Block Modifieds take center stage on Saturday with the Gone But Not Forgotten race. This 40-lap Poker Series finale will pay homage to Doug Hoffman, the late promoter of the South Jersey race track. The top finisher of this extra distance event will receive $4000, $500 to the tenth place finisher and $300 to take the green.  The top thirteen place finishers in each Poker Series race are awarded a playing card starting with an Ace going to the victor and ending with a Deuce going to the thirteenth place finisher. Through four events, fourteen drivers are still in contention to win the 2013 Poker Series championship. Entering the final event, Neal Williams has the best hand with two Fours and a Nine. Rusty Smith has the next best hand with a pair of Deuces. Jimmy Blewett, Jimmy Horton, Duane Howard, Rick Laubach, Richie Pratt, Jr., Matt Harrell, Sammy Piazza, Ryan Godown, Ryan Watt, Eric Kormann, Tommy Beamer and Sam Martz still have a shot at the series title. Also on Saturday, the fifth hand of the Crate/Sportsman Poker Series will be contested with $1000 going to the winner of the 25-lap affair and $100 to start. With two Kings, an Ace and a Four, Kyle Borror has the best hand. Mike Lyons has the next best hand with a pair of Queens and a three. Mike Cogdill, Steve Davis, Mike Hendershot, and Kevin Belmont are still in the hunt for the overall best hand. Black Flagged Racing’s Outlaw Stock Car Shoot-Out Series wraps up with a 20-lap Friends of Mike feature paying $1000 to the winner. After three races, Bill Liedtka sits atop the standings with 188 points. Ron Frees and Brian Ludwig are tied for second place with 169 points. Saturday’s four-division race card will be completed by an exhibition race by the Garden State Vintage Stock Car Club. 

Plenty of other incentives are available for competitors throughout Wild Card Weekend. Non-qualifiers in the Small Block Modified and Crate/Sportsman will receive tow money through lap sponsorship. Lap sponsorships start at $20 and interested parties can contact Danny Serrano at 856-467-4407 for further information. A host of contingency awards will be awarded in the Crate/Sportsman division. Three $25 gift certificates from Lineman Racing to three non-qualifiers

Three $25 gift certificates from Behrent’s Performance to three non-qualifiers

Five $100 gift certificates from BFP Specialty for a set of doors & quarter panels for the 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, and 25th place finishers

Jimmy Wismer of Wizfab has donated a set of bumpers and rubrails for the 22nd place finisher

Lias Tire has donated four $50 certificates towards the purchase of a tire for the 11th, 16th, 21st, and 26th place finishers.

Mike’s Performance Center has donated five $20 gift certificates to go to five non-qualifiers

MEG Wheels has donated two $50 certificates towards the purchase or repair of a wheel

ERK Steering has donated $50 certificates off a steering box rebuild for all non-qualifiers

Big Jim’s Videos has donated five $20 certificates towards the purchase of a racing DVD for five non-qualifiers

The Outlaw Stock Cars will be racing for several extra incentives as well. Through the efforts of Black Flagged Racing, each Outlaw Stock Car feature will have bonuses.  Also, Carl Thomas will provide $50 to each victor in Friday’s heat races while the winners of Saturday’s qualifying events will collect $75. 

On both days of Wild Card Weekend, Avery Racing and Do It Duo For Pets, Inc. will be collecting pet supplies for those affected by Hurricane Sandy and the Oklahoma Tornado. Donations will be collected at the main grandstand ticket office and in the pits at the Avery Racing Outlaw Stock Car team trailer. Items such as pet food, cat litter, toys, bedding, gift cards and monetary donations will be warmly accepted. Anyone who donates an item will be automatically entered into a raffle for an adult bicycle.  A Kid’s Bike Raffle, benefitting Do It For Duo, will see twelve kids go home with a new bike on Saturday. The first 100 kids through the grandstands will receive goodie bags courtesy of the Avery Racing team.

On Friday, November 15, the pit area opens at 4:30 p.m. with the grandstand gates opening at 5:30 p.m. Hot laps get underway at 7:00 p.m. with racing starting at 7:30 p.m.  On Saturday, November 16, competitors can begin to enter the pits at noon with grandstand turnstiles unlocking at 1:30 p.m. Warm-ups will start at 3:15 p.m. and the first green flag waves at 4:00 p.m. Adult (16 and older) admission will be $25 with a two day grandstand wrist band available for $45. Students (10-15) will be admitted for $10 per day. Kids 9 and under are free.  Pit admission is $35 per day. In case of inclement weather on either Friday or Saturday, Sunday, November 16 has been reserved as a rain date.  The Holiday Inn, located south of the speedway at exit 10 off of I-295 in Swedesboro, NJ, will serve as the host hotel. Rooms can be reserved for $79 by calling 856-467-3322 and mention Bridgeport Speedway to receive the special discounted room rate.  Camping on the speedway grounds will be permitted for free.

A post- race party will take place on Friday night at the pavilion.  All drivers and fans are encouraged to attend this festive affair behind the main grandstand. Some complimentary food and beverages will be available along with music. Attendees can bring their own food and beverages to the party as well.

Bridgeport Speedway provides a safe and secure family atmosphere, free parking, giveaways, and fan participation games. As a premier racing complex, Bridgeport Speedway is a banked 5/8th mile dirt oval, featuring a dirt 1/4 mile oval embedded in the center, and is located in Southern New Jersey -- just minutes from Pennsylvania and Delaware at exit 14 off of I-295.
