Upping The Ante: “Clean Your Plate Challenge” Backed By Insinger Performance Rewards ‘Gobbler’ Modified Driver With $10,000 Should They Sweep Heat, Dash For Cash & Feature Saturday, November 30 At Accord Speedway; Largest Payday In Speedway History Looms At 2013 Dirt-Track Finale
ACCORD, NY – History could be made and one driver may leave $10,000 richer from Accord Speedway on Saturday, November 30.
An innovative “Clean Your Plate Challenge” has been announced for the big-block/small-block Modified portion of the ‘Gobbler’ 2013 dirt-track finale Saturday, November 30 at Accord Speedway, a co-promotion involving BD Motorsports Media LLC and speedway owner Gary Palmer. Should a driver complete the challenge, the ‘Gobbler’ will go down as the highest-paying event in the history of the Ulster County quarter-mile oval, which opened in 1962.
Currently, the ‘Gobbler’ Modified 50-lap feature pays $7,117.11 to the winner thanks to Sowle Trailer Repair and Glen Ridge Motorsports Park. Simplicity Designs and Creekside Supply also contributed to the winner’s share.
Now, the stakes have gone even higher. The “Clean Your Plate Challenge” works like this: should one driver win the main event ($7,117.11 plus lap money), the Jack’s Used Race Car Parts Dash for Cash ($300) and a heat race (each heat pays $100), Insinger Performance of Dushore, Pa., has guaranteed that driver will earn $10,000 cash. Insinger Performance will make up the difference between the driver’s earnings and 10 grand.
Yes, should one driver “clean their plate” and win the heat, Dash for Cash and feature, they will leave the speedway with 10k!
“This will definitely add some excitement to an already big event,” said event co-promoter Brett Deyo of BD Motorsports Media LLC. “It will be a challenge for a driver to sweep the event, but it could be done. Danny Creeden won his heat race and ran the Dash when he won the ‘Battle of the Bullring’ in August, so it isn’t far outside the realm of possibility.
“We could make some Accord Speedway history and one driver could earn $10,000 for 65 laps of work by ‘cleaning their plate’ that day!”
Speedway owner Palmer said the ‘Gobbler’ has brought significant attention to his facility.
“It’s great to have all the hype,” Palmer said. “Locally, around the track, and with racers and fans from all over, it’s definitely got people talking about Accord Speedway. I’m really looking forward to it.”
A talented field of invaders will be embarking on the Big A for the ‘Gobbler’ event including Tim McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y.; Brian Weaver of Windsor, N.Y.; Stewart Friesen of Sprakers, N.Y.; Bobby Varin of Sharon Springs, N.Y.; Mike Mahaney of King Ferry, N.Y.; Jimmy Horton of Neshanic Station, N.J.; Elmo Reckner of Ballston Lake, N.Y., and teammate Jimmy Davis of Ballston Spa, N.Y.; JaMike Sowle of Fultonville, N.Y.; Tim Hindley of Fair Oaks, N.Y.; Pat Ward of Genoa, N.Y.; Nick Rochinski of Dickson City, Pa.; Bob Henry Jr. of Clay, N.Y.; 14-year-old Tyler Dippel of Wallkill, N.Y.; and many more.
Accord regulars looking to defend their home turf include track champion and ‘King of the Catskills’ winner Jackie Brown Jr. of Hurley, N.Y.; ‘Battle of the Bullring’ winner Danny Creeden of Middletown, N.Y.; Jeff Heotzler Sr. of Wallkill, N.Y. (driving the Mel Schrufer No. 84); Andy Bachetti of Sheffield, Mass.; rising young star Anthony Perrego of Montgomery, N.Y.; Tommy Meier of Waldwick, N.J.; Danny Tyler of Cottekill, N.Y.; Dom Roselli of Eldred, N.Y. (driving the Mike Doty-owned No. 1R); and others.
Additionally from Insinger Performance, if a Modified race team purchases fuel from the speedway on race day, displays a decal and then goes on to win the feature, that driver will receive a free drum of fuel. Sportsman (Open & Crate 602) race 25 laps for $1,000 to the winner (plus $500 in Crate 602 bonuses and other awards) and a special Pure Stock/Street Stock Ron Wright Memorial 20-lap event, with a rapidly growing purse, completes the event. More than $1,000 has been raised to boost the payout for the Ron Wright Memorial Event. Wright was a lifelong race fan, “racing Dad” to son Kyle and crew member before his untimely passing last year.
Competitors in the “Mashed Potato Modifieds,” Sportsman “Turkey 25” and “Pumpkin Pie Pure Stocks” have plenty of incentive to keep their cars together for the ‘Gobbler’ finale. A complete list of special awards and bonuses can be found on the web at www.bdmotorsportsmedia.com under the ‘Gobbler’ icon. The bonus list includes thousands in cash, plus product awards and other perks for competitors.
As a gesture of thanks for the outstanding support of the ‘Battle of the Bullring’ contested in August, the Accord Speedway concession stands will be serving FREE hot coffee all day with any purchase.
Additionally, to benefit local families in need, a Holiday Toy Drive will be held at the ‘Gobbler’ event. The speedway will collect new, unwrapped toys to donate to the Town of Rochester Youth Commission. Any individual bringing a toy will receive a coupon for a FREE hot chocolate.
