ILES WINS BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY’S HIGH STAKES AT THE PORT

Bridgeport, NJ (October 6, 2013) – At Bridgeport Speedway’s High
Stakes the Port, Mike Iles picked up the Ace and his second Big Block
Modified victory of the 2013 season. Duane Howard won the rain
postponed May 11 Big Block Modified feature. Steve Davis took top
honors in the Crate/Sportsman Poker Series feature for his first
career victory on the 5/8 mile track and four-time Outlaw Stock
Champion Pat Conaway returned to capture his 50th career win in the
Black Flagged Racing Shootout Series contest.

As the 35-lap Big Block Modified feature began, Eric Kormann took the
race lead. Two laps later, Billy Pauch, Sr. motored into second with
Mike Iles taking over third. By the fourth tour, Iles was in the
runner-up spot with Pauch dropping back to third. Using an inside move
on lap 6, Iles powered by Kormann to take command of the race. By lap
20, Iles held a comfortable lead over Pauch, Wade Hendrickson, Matt
Harrell and Duane Howard but Pauch was beginning to narrow the margin
as Iles approached the back markers in the field.  Iles was closing in
on his own second car driven by Sam Westcott.  While Iles ran behind
Westcott hoping for an opening on the inside, Pauch drove to the
outside and hopped to the front of the pack on lap 24. On the next
revolution with the top three in tight quarters, Hendrickson attempted
an inside pass on Iles upon the entry of the first corner but he made
contact with Iles and the yellow lights illuminated as Hendrickson
spun across the track. As green flag racing got back underway, Pauch
repelled a challenge by Iles for the lead as Sammy Martz and Rick
Laubach, the nineteenth place starter, waged a battle for fifth. Eric
Kormann’s slowing car drew another yellow flag on lap 26. When action
got back underway on the double file restart, the top two of Pauch and
Iles raced side-by-side for over one circuit before Iles reassumed the
top running position on lap 28. When Neal Williams slowed with
thirty-one laps scored, the field was realigned in a single file for
the final restart.  As action resumed, Iles led Pauch as Laubach had
moved up to third over Harrell and Howard.  With Iles out in front,
Laubach challenged Pauch for second, taking over the runner-up spot on
lap thirty-three.  Laubach closed the gap on Iles as they raced to the
checkered flag.  Iles led Laubach across the line with Pauch, Harrell
and Howard completing the top five at the checkered. The Big Block
Modified qualifying events were taken by Billy Pauch Sr., Corey
Andersen and Eric Kormann. Rick Laubach won the consolation race.

Duane Howard picked up his first Bridgeport Speedway victory since
2011 when he won the held-over Big Block Modified feature from May
11th behind the wheel of Glenn Hyneman's #126.  Howard took the green
from the third spot with nine laps already completed of the rain
delayed event.  Howard took the lead from Richie Pratt Jr. on lap 22
and he drove away from the field in the remaining circuits. Pratt
finished second followed by Iles, Harrell and Sammy Piazza.  The win
was Howard's 40th feature win at the Bridgeport Speedway.

In the non-stop 20-lap Crate/Sportsman Poker Series race, Steve Davis
claimed his first Bridgeport Speedway win. Davis grabbed the lead from
Jason Duppel with five circuits to go and pulled away from the field
in the remaining tours. Second place was taken by Kyle Borror. Duppel,
Kevin Belmont and Ryan Simmons completed the top five. Kevin Belmont,
Steve Davis and Mike Lyons won the heat races in the Crate/Sportsman
division. The consolation race was captured by Kris Lilick.

Pat Conaway made a successful return to racing action at Bridgeport
Speedway to capture his 50th  Outlaw Stock Car feature win.  In the
highly competitive 20-lap Shoot-Out Series race sponsored by Black
Flagged Racing, Conaway took the lead from Bill Liedtka just before
the half way point but Liedtka returned to the top of the pack
following a lap fourteen restart.  Conaway used the upper groove to
regain the lead with just two laps remaining.  Conaway took the win
over Liedtka, Ron Frees, Tom Wills, Sr. and Billy Wroble. The Outlaw
Stock car heat race victors were Marty Derr, Billy Wroble and Bill
Liedtka. John Parker took the consolation event.
