Next Wednesday Night Test & Tune on September 18

Newberrytown, PA (September 10, 2013) – On Saturday night, September 14, racing action returns to the Big Track at SSP with Track Championship Night.  Racing action will include the Late Models Street Stocks, Xtreme Stocks Cars, Road Warriors, Mini Vans and PA Sprint Series.  Track champions will be crowned in the Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stocks, Road Warriors, Mini Vans and PA Sprint Series divisions.  There will also be a special championship awards presentation for the drivers of the Summer Shoot-Out Series at the Outback Track.

The Late Model Track Championship will be decided on Saturday night.  There are three drivers in contention to with the coveted Billet Cup, in honor of the late seven-time track champion Carl Billet.  The 2011 SSP Late Model Champion, Justin Ehrhart holds a slim lead of seven points over Billy Wampler and 25 points over Randy Christine Jr.

The Street Stock Track Championship is all but secured by Randy Zechman.  Zechman, the two-time SSP Track Champions (2010 & 2012), has an 85 point lead over Scott Thunberg.  Zechman only needs to start the heat race to clinch the championship.

Two-time Road Warrior Track Champion (2010 & 2011) Daryl Sipe, holds a 27 point lead over 2012 Road Warrior Champion Curt McDade with one race remaining on Saturday.

The battle for the Mini Van Track Championship is the closest of all divisions as Donny Groff holds a three point lead over Zakari Kitner.  If Kitner and Groff should be tied at the end of the night, the tiebreaker could not be broken and co-champions would be declared only if Kitner can win the race.

In the PA Sprint Series, Logan Wagner holds a 42 point lead over Mark Watkins.

Please note the new starting times.  On Saturday, the pit gates will open at 3:30 p.m.  Grandstand gates will open at 4:00 p.m.  Warm-ups begin at 5:30 p.m. with qualifying races at 6:00 p.m. followed by consolation races and feature events.
