NASCAR POINT
BATTLES DOWN TO JUST FOUR WEEKS REMAINING AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY, SPRINT CARS IN
SPECIAL SUNDAY SHOW ON AUGUST 25
BECHTELSVILLE, PA
August 15, 2013 . . . The battles for the three titles at Grandview Speedway has
just four weeks to go. That means racers will be pulling out all stops to try
for championships or to finish as far up in the final standings as possible.
Each point earned could earn them extra money at the season
end.
Six time champion Craig VonDohren
has a significant lead over defending champion Duane Howard in the chase for the
NASCAR Whelen 358 Modified title but that could change. Six time champion Chuck
Schutz leads the Late Model Series points by a narrow margin over Danny Snyder
and Jason Miller. And in the Sportsman division defending champion Jared
Umbenhauer is looking to grab his second straight
title.
The next two Saturday nights (August
17th and 24th) of racing action will have a significant
impact on the point battles and that means competition will be
intense.
Saturday night action for the next
two weeks will include racing for the NASCAR 358 Modifieds, Late Models and
Sportsman with at least a dozen events of exciting stock car racing being
presented.
And each Saturday fans are invited
to the Meet & Greet at the main entrance when the ticket windows open at
5:30 p.m. The Meet and Greet gives fans a chance to meet three drivers
representing each division of competition and get an up close look at their race
cars. Adult admission is a low $15 while children 12 and under are admitted
FREE. Military personnel with a current active ID card are admitted
FREE.
The first racing event of the night
hits the track at 7:30 p.m. with warm-ups for all racers starting at about 6:45
p.m.
A special Sunday show of TSRS 305
Sprint and Sportsman racing is scheduled for Sunday, August 25th at 7
p.m. This will be a first time
appearance for the 305 Sprints at Grandview and more than three dozen sprint car
racers are expected. With the Sportsman racing being open competition a large
field of racers will be on hand trying for the $700 first place
money.
Defending TSRS champion Mike
Haggenbottom will lead the large field of sprint racers that will include Tim
Tanner, Kyle Purks, Jon Haegle, Kyle Reinhart, Tom Carberry and others.
Admission for the August
25th event is $16 for adults with young people 12 and under admitted
free.
