RAIN WASHES OUT BIG DIAMOND SPEEDWAY FOR 8th TIME IN
2013
MINERSVILLE, PA - AUGUST 11th, 2013
For the 8th time this
season, rain forced the cancellation of the racing events scheduled for Big
Diamond Speedway on Friday, August 9th.
Heavy rains Thursday evening in
Friday morning, with even more rain forecast for Friday evening forced
owners/promoters Jake and Jasmine Smulley to cancel the evenings
events.
Racing returns to Big Diamond Speedway this coming Friday, August
16th with a full program of 358 Modifieds, Sportsman, and Roadrunners. Also on
the card are the Coca Cola one-on-one challenge races for the ZY Pyrotechnics
358 Modifieds.
The following Friday evening, August 23rd, Big Diamond
Speedway presents the "Prelude to the Coalcracker" event for the 358 Modifieds.
This race will be 30 laps for $4,000 to win and $400 to take the green. Heat
race line-ups will be by luck of the draw. This race will serve as a great tune
up race for anyone looking to enter this years Jack Rich Memorial Coalcracker 72
event. A stellar field is expected for this prelude event.
Also on the
card or the 23rd will be the Hilborn Tri-State Race Saver Sprints making their
2nd appearance of the season in a 20 laps feature event, along with the Savage
61 Roadrunners, also with a 20 lap feature event.
The Street Stocks race
originally scheduled for this date has been removed from the evenings
event.
Adult grandstand admission for this event will be $20.00, with
kids 12 and under admitted free of charge.
Gates will open at 5:00 PM,
with warm-ups at 7:45 PM and the first heat scheduled to hit the track at 8:15
PM.
Then on Sunday, September 1st, Big Diamond Speedway and Jack Rich
Inc. present the annual Coalcracker 72 race for the ZY Pyrotechnics 358
Modifieds. This years races will once again pay $10,000 to win, but the "to
take the green" money has been increased to $500.
Entry forms are now
available for this event, with the early entry fee being $35.00 per car. The
day of the event the entry fee increases to $50.00 per car. Entry forms have
already been received from track regulars Ricky Yetter and Ron Haring
Jr.
Lap sponsorships are also available at $20.00 per lap. Please see
Tim Long at the pit sign in booth or in the tower at intermission if interesting
in sponsoring a lap or laps.
