TWIN TWENTY LAP FEATURES ARE UP NEXT AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY
Bridgeport, NJ (August 15, 2013) - On Saturday, August 17, the second
Twin 20 program of the year will take place at Bridgeport Speedway.
Commonly known as the ‘Fan’sFavorite’ – ‘Driver’s Nightmare’, this
week’s two-feature program will have a little twist added to the mix.
With the 8th Annual Friends of Mike Race just around the corner,
promoter Keith Hoffman wanted to give the drivers a little more
incentive for the Twin 20 show.
The driver with the best average on the night between the two races
will automatically be entered in ever-so-important redraw position for
F.O.M. VIII on August 29. “I know when I ran Twin 20’s, a lot of the
time I didn’t win either race but I had the best night of anyone
‘points’ wise,” offered Hoffman. “I also know that being in that
redraw forFriends of Mike or any big race is really important. We
thought it would be a good idea to reward the driver with the best
overall finish between the two races. Now that driver will have a
little less pressure come the 29th at least knowing he’s guaranteed to
be in with
the other qualified drivers,” Hoffman added. If there is a tie
between two drivers, the highest finisher from the first feature wins
the tie-breaker.
With the point season winding down and the Big Block Modified points
getting tighter each week, it’s anyone’s championship right now.
Jimmy Horton the all-time leading feature winner in Bridgeport’s
history, currently holds a slim 17 point lead over second place point
man Ryan Watt. Horton has driven to victory lane 3 times this season
while Watt has 4 checkered flags to his credit. Rick Laubach (2 wins)
has been on a tear of late closing the gap in the point standings.
Laubach is now less than 45 points out of the point lead while Richie
Pratt Jr.(2 wins) sits in fourth place in the standings only 11
markers behind
last year’s track champion. Last week’s winner Mike Iles has amassed
the most points in the last month moving him up to fifth in the point
standings. Drivers threatening to win week in and week out while
rounding out the top 10 in points include Mike Barone, Sam Martz, Matt
Harrell, Eric Kormann, and Domnick Buffalino (3wins).
So the question that arises is, “Will these guys go all out for that
thrill of victory?”…or “Will they play it safe and go for the
guaranteed redraw position for Friends of Mike while collecting those
precious points toward the 2013 championship?” The only way to know is
to be there and see first-hand this Saturday, August 17. The
Crate/Sportsman division will also be on the schedule this weekend as
Mike Cogdill holds a mere one point lead over three-time winner this
season Matt Budd. The Outlaw Stocks round out the racing card after
having Saturday off last week.
Saturday marks the fourth ‘Bike Night’ of the season at Bridgeport.
Residents from Egg Harbor, Galloway and Mays Landing, along with all
drivers of motorcycles, will be admitted to the grandstand for free.
There will also be a bicycle giveaway drawing for the kids at
intermission. Competitors can begin to enter the pits at 4:30 p.m.
with the grandstand ticket office opening at 5:30 p.m. Action on the
outer oval starts at 7:00 p.m. Adult (16 and older) admission will be
$20 with students (10-15) being admitted for $10. Kids 9 and under are
free. Pit admission is $30 for Bridgeport members and $35 for
non-members.
