BIG DIAMOND SPEEDWAY PRESENTS "PRELUDE TO THE COALCRACKER" AUGUST
23RD
MINERSVILLE, PA - AUGUST 6th, 2013
What was already going to
be an exciting race on August 23rd at Big Diamond Speedway just got more
exciting.
This race originally was on the schedule as the final event in
the five race, 30 lap, $3,000 to win series presented over the course of the
season at Big Diamond Speedway. Now, track owners Jake and Jasmine Smulley have
upped the ante even more. Friday, August 23rd will now be referred to as the
"Prelude to the Coalcracker" and pay an unheard of $4,000 to win the 30 lap
event. Just to take the green will pay $400 in what is quickly becoming a "must
see" event. With drivers from other tracks looking to get a little seat time in
just a week before the annual Coalcraker 72 race, a large, diverse field is
expected for this event.
So far in 2013, Craig Von Dohren is a perfect 4
for 4 in these 30 lap events. Can he go 5 for 5, or will second man in points
and Georgie Stevenson Memorial winner Meme Desantis have other ideas? Money in
the Mountains winner Jeff Strunk is hungry for another large payday, as is two
time winner Frank Cozze. Defending Coalcracker 72 winner Doug Manmiller always
steps it up in these big money events, and Ray Swinehart has been very
impressive as of late. Is it possible for Big Diamond regulars Kevin Albert
Jr., Ricky Yetter, Dale "Hollywood" Hartz, Andy Burkhart, Dan Hineline, Shawn
Fitzpatrick, or a host of other to get the first big dollar win of their
careers? What invaders may come to town in search of a big payday? Make sure
you are there to see what is sure to be an all out, hold on to the edge of your
seat 30 lap event. Action on the track is sure to be intense, as everyone wants
to get to the front of the pack first. It's going to be AWESOME!
Also on
the card that evening will be the Hilborn Tri-State Race Saver Sprints making
their 2nd appearance of the season in a 20 laps feature event, along with the
Savage 61 Roadrunners, also with a 20 lap feature event.
The Street
Stocks race originally scheduled for this date has been removed from the
evenings event.
Adult grandstand admission for this event will be $20.00,
with kids 12 and under admitted free of charge.
Gates will open at 5:00
PM, with warm-ups at 7:45 PM and the first heat scheduled to hit the track at
8:15 PM.
Just a reminder that coming up on Sunday, September 1st, Big
Diamond Speedway and Jack Rich Inc. present the annual Coalcracker 72 race for
the ZY Pyrotechnics 358 Modifieds.
Entry forms are now available for this
event, with the early entry fee being $35.00 per car. The day of the event the
entry fee increases to $50.00 per car. Entry forms have already been received
from track regulars Ricky Yetter and Ron Haring Jr.
Lap sponsorships are
also available at $20.00 per lap. Please see Tim Long at the pit sign in booth
or in the tower at intermission if interesting in sponsoring a lap or laps.
