NAPA AUTO PARTS THUNDER ON THE HILL RACING SERIES

NAPA AUTO PARTS presents. . . . . . .

THUNDER ON THE HILL TO SALUTE FRED RAHMER TUESDAY NIGHT, JULY 30, 410 SPRINTS & ROC MODIFIEDS MAKE-UP HUGE SHOW ON THE HILL

The MACH 1 Chassis 410 sprints and the Pioneer Pole Buildings 16th Annual Traffic Jam for modifieds will make-up this mid-week spectacular at the Grandview Speedway on Tuesday night, July 30. Race time is set for 7:30 PM with gates opening at 5 PM.

For the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series, this show will mark the 108th event since the series started way back in August of 1990. Tonight’s race will also have special meaning as five time Thunder on the Hill Racing Series Champion Fred Rahmer, will make his final career start at Grandview. A long and very successful career, nationally recognized sprint car driver Fred Rahmer from Salfordsville, PA will be retiring at the completion of the 2013 season. Tuesday night, July 30 marks the last time that fans will see Fred Rahmer compete on the “hill” at Grandview Speedway.

A career that started in the modifieds in 1978 and continued through 1985, Fast Freddie as he is commonly known, won ninety-nine features and seven track championships before moving into the 410 sprints. In 1986, few people knew the career that was about to unfold for Fred Rahmer. He has done it all, winning over four hundred 410 sprint feature events and twenty-six sprint car championships, and in building this list of accomplishments, he beat the best drivers in the business along the way..

“Fred was at Grandview the night of our first Thunder on the Hill event in 1990 and the only driver who competed in every Thunder sprint car show since the series started”, commented Thunder on the Hill co-promoter Bob Miller. “Fred Rahmer had a positive impact on 410 sprint car racing and could be counted on to make it a show and let’s not forget, his always colorful and entertaining victory lane interviews”. Miller continued, “I often reached out to Fred for advise and direction and I could always count on him to provide the answer that was right for racing, and not how it affected him. The entire staff of Grandview Speedway and Thunder on the Hill salute Fred Rahmer for his outstanding successes and accomplishments”.

There is no doubt that Fred Rahmer would like nothing more then to win the Mach 1 Chassis 410 sprint feature Tuesday night, July 30 at Grandview. The feature will go a distance of 35 laps and pay $5,000 to the winner. Rahmer is a five time Thunder on the Hill Champion and winner of nine Thunder Series feature events. Along with Rahmer, Greg Hodnett, Lance Dewease, Brian Montieth, Alan Krimes, Mark Smith, Blane Heimbach, Brent Marks and Davey Sammons are some of the expected entries. The rich payoff will also offer $1,000 to finish tenth and $400 just to take the green flag in the feature event.

In the PPB 16th Annual Traffic JAM, $5,000 will go to the winner of the fifty lap event. An event rich in history will attract an all star roster to include defending winner Danny Johnson, Bobby Varin, Craig VonDohren, Frank Cozze, Jeff Strunk, Duane Howard, Rick Laubach, Kevin Hirthler, Mike Gular, Doug Manmiller, Jared Umbenhauer, Ryan Godown, Doug Manmiller, Billy Pauch Jr., Sammy Piazzia and John Stangle just to name a few. Lias Tires has posted three right rear tires offering one tire to the first three non-qualifiers.

The program will open with time trials for the 410 sprints followed by heat race qualifying for both the sprints and modifieds. A “B” Main will be offered for the sprints as the modifieds round out their starting field with a consolation event. This all leads up to the 35 lap Mach 1 Chassis sprint feature followed by the PPB 16th Annual Traffic Jam for Modifieds going 60 laps.

A $500 cash bonus is posted by MACH 1 Chassis in Mechanicsburg, PA and will be awarded to the driver that has the best combined finished between the July 30 410 sprint show and the June 5 USAC event at Grandview. Mach 1 Chassis maintains a large inventory of open wheel parts and accessories at their Mechanicsburg, PA shop. They inventory enough parts and products to assemble a complete race-ready roller. Mach 1 fabricates many parts in-house as well as serving as an authorized dealer for many of the sports leading manufacturers. If they don’t have it, Mach 1 will get it for you! With these two premier divisions on the same program, the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series is pleased to offer this show for a very reasonable admission price of just $25 for adults.

In the event of rain, Wednesday night, July 31 will be the rain date with a starting time of 7:30 PM.
