FREES AND SEAROCK RUMBLE INTO
BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY’S VICTORY LANE AS
BIG BLOCK MODIFIED FEATURE IS
POSTPONED
Bridgeport, NJ (July 21, 2013) – At Bridgeport Speedway, Ron
Frees
rumbled back into victory lane as he collected the Outlaw Stock Car
feature. Following a weather delay due to a thunderstorm and prolonged
lightning, Steve Searock topped the field in the Crate/Sportsman
contest. Due to the weather interruption in the program and ensuing
curfew, the Big Block Modified feature was postponed and will be held
on Saturday, August 3.
In the 15-lap Outlaw Stock Car feature, Ron
Frees racked up his
seventh checkered flag of the season. Frees took
control of the race
on the second circuit following a restart and was never
challenged the
rest of the way. Jeremy Doerr, who started the contest in
twelfth,
finished in the runner-up spot. Third place was taken by Tom
Wills,
Sr. with fourth going to Jimmy Avery and fifth claimed by Brian
Ludwig. The Outlaw Stock car heat race victors were Jimmy Hughes and
Tom Wills, Sr.
Following a delay due to a thunderstorm and lingering
lightning in the
area, the 20-lap Crate/Sportsman contest saw Steve Searock
rocket to
his second victory of the year. Jesse Bonaduce grabbed the lead
at the
start and led the opening nine revolutions. In a three way battle
for
the top running position, the eighth place starting Searock scooted to
the front of the pack on lap 10 and led the balance of the event.
Ricky
DiEva ran a strong race and finished in second. The top five was
completed
by Mike Cogdill, Marc Herman, and Dave Damiano. Ian
Humphreys and Dave
Damiano won the Crate/Sportsman qualifying events.
As an outcome of the
weather delay, the Big Block Modified feature
could not be contested on
this night due to curfew. This main event
has been added to the program
slated to occur on Saturday, August 3.
The winners of the Big Block
Modified heat races were Bob Sarkisian,
Dave Witte, and Dom Buffalino. The
consolation race was taken by Don
Cogdill, III.
On Saturday, July
27, Fan Appreciation Night takes center stage. From
4:15 p.m. until 5:15
p.m., a meet and greet session with the stars and
cars at Bridgeport
Speedway will take place on the midway behind the
main grandstand. In
addition, it will be Dietz & Watson Dollar Dog
Night with free
grandstand admission for residents of Wenonah and
Woodbury Heights. The
TSRS Sprint Cars will be making an appearance
and will be joining the Big
Block Modifieds, Crate/Sportsman, and
Outlaw Stock Cars. Pit gates unlock
at 3:00 p.m. with the grandstand
turnstiles opening at 4:00 p.m. The first
green flag waves at 6:30
p.m. Adult (16 and older) admission will be $20
with students (10-15)
being admitted for $10. Kids 9 and under are free.
Pit admission is
$30 for Bridgeport members and $35 for
non-members.
