QUINN WINS FIRST IN 270 MICRO SPRINTS, SANDT WINS INAUGURAL 600 MICRO SPRINT
FEATURE, SCHOFFSTALL 4 FOR 4 IN SLINGSHOTS
MINERSVILLE, PA - JUNE 10th,
2013
On a pleasant Sunday afternoon, Little Diamond Speedway roared back
into action with a triple header of 270cc Micro Sprints, 600cc Wingless Micro
Sprints, and Slingshots.
First on the agenda was the 600cc wingless micro
sprints, competing in their first ever event on Little Diamond. Chad Sandt
bolted into the lead from his pole starting spot and raced to victory in the 20
lap main event. Behind him action was hot and heavy, with Bruce Ginther Jr.,
Craig Fox, and Louie Horvath racing under a blanket for the 2nd thru 4th
positions. At the checkered it Ginther narrowly crossing the line in 2nd over
Fox and Horvath, with Erick Knopp rounding out the top five. Ginther Jr. was
the heat race winner. The 600cc micro drivers were very complimentary about
Little Diamond after the race and many said they look forward to the next event
for their division.
Next up was the 270cc winged micro sprints, where
Quinn Roberts was able to score the victory in only his 2nd ever visit to the
track. Teammates Zack and Pat Bealer crossed the line in 2nd and 3rd positions,
with current point leader Ed Kenderdine 4th and youngster Austin Bishop rounding
out the top five. Heat winners were Luke Kroboth and Pat Bealer. Car count in
the 270cc micros was a season high of 13 and continues to grow with each and
every event.
In the 20 lap Slingshot event, Alex Schoffstall took the
lead on lap #3 from his third starting position and led the rest of the way for
the win. The victory was the 4th in a row for Schoffstall. To date he has led
all but 2 laps he has run on Little Diamond, heat races and feature events
combined. Matt Miller came home in second place, followed by Matt Dealaman,
making his first start of the season at Little Diamond. Schoffstall was also
the heat race victor.
The dates for future races on Little Diamond
Speedway are still being discussed and a new schedule will be released shortly.
Thursday night racing has been terminated.
