RAIN STOPS RACING AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY DURING BIG BLOCK MODIFIED FEATURE

Bridgeport, NJ (May 12, 2013) – On Mother’s Night at Bridgeport
Speedway, it took a third round of rain showers to finally stop the
racing. With nine circuits completed, Ryan Watt was leading the Big
Block Modified event. The remainder of this race will be concluded at
a later date. The Crate/Sportsman main event was postponed and this
race will be contested in the future as well. Prior to the third round
of wet weather, Brian Ludwig won the Outlaw Stock Car feature with Ian
Humphries picking up the victory in the D.A.’S Auto Body and Repair
Rookie race.

At the start of the 30-lap Big Block Modified feature, Mike Franz
grabbed the lead with Scott Irwin, Mike Iles and Matt Harrell in
pursuit. By lap 2, Iles had just motored into the runner-up spot when
he stopped in turn four with a flat tire. When action got back
underway, Harrell blasted to the front of the pack. Ryan Watt, who
started the event in twelfth, had just moved into second place when a
slowing Stan Frankenfield, Jr. caused the yellow lights to illuminate
the track with four circuits completed. On the restart, Watt charged
to the front with Harrell and Richie Pratt, Jr. in his tracks. On lap
6, the caution flag was displayed as Frankenfield, Jr. began to slow
down on the track. Following the waving of the green flag, the top
three remained in order with Duane Howard driving into fourth. Dave
Witte’s ride slowed in turn four and the yellow flag appeared with
seven laps recorded. When action got back underway, Watt was still on
top and was followed by Harrell, Pratt, Jr., and Howard. On lap 9, Rob
Nixon’s spin stopped the highly entertaining racing action. Before the
green flag could wave, a moderate rain shower began to pelt the track
and the race was stopped. When the race resumes at a future date, Watt
will be the leader with Harrell, Pratt, Jr., Howard, and Mike Barone
completing the top five. The winners of the Big Block Modified heats
were Scott Irwin, Mike Franz, and Dave Witte. Sammy Piazza was the
victor in the consolation race.

In the 15-lap Outlaw Stock Car feature, Brian Ludwig paced the field
for the entire distance to win his third career race at Bridgeport
Speedway. Ed Tinsman and Tom Wills, Sr. had a good duel for second
place with Tinsman coming out on top. With Wills, Sr. taking third,
Jimmy Avery finished fourth and Spider Ensinger wound up in fifth. The
Outlaw Stock Car heats were won by Brian Ludwig and Ed Tinsman.

In the D.A.’S Auto Body and Repair Rookie Series race, Ian Humphries
visited victory lane for the fourth time this season. Kris Lilick,
Jesse James Bonaduce, and Jeff Bubori followed Humphries across the
finish line.

Due to the rain, the Crate/Sportman feature will be contested at a
later date. Mike Cogdill and Steve Searock won the Crate/Sportsman
qualifying events.

On Saturday, May 18, Bike and Scout Night takes place at Bridgeport
Speedway. All bike riders receive free admission along with scouts in
uniform. The TSRS Sprint Cars will be making their first appearance at
Bridgeport Speedway this season. The Big Block Modifieds,
Crate/Sportsman, and D.A.’s Auto Body and Repair Rookies are on the
agenda as well. The Outlaw Stock Cars will not be competing on this
night. Pit gates open at 4:00 p.m. with the grandstand turnstiles
opening at 5:00 p.m. Action gets underway at 6:30 p.m. Spectators (16
and older) are admitted for $20 with students (10-15) being admitted
for $10. Kids 9 and under are free.

Bridgeport Speedway provides a safe and secure family atmosphere, free
parking, giveaways and fan participation games. Billed ‘The Fastest
Dirt Track in the East’, Bridgeport Speedway is a banked 5/8th mile
dirt oval, featuring a dirt 1/4 mile oval embedded in the center, and
