VON DOHREN WINS 2nd OF SEASON, LISOWSKI WINS FIRST EVER IN SPORTSMAN,
BERZOWSKI WINS 3rd IN A ROW
MINERSVILLE, PA - MAY 5th, 2013
One
week after seeing a potential feature victory snatched from his grasp after
running out of fuel, Craig Von Dohren returned to victory lane at Big Diamond
Speedway. The 30 lap feature event victory was worth $3,000 to the veteran
racer from Oley, PA.
Ricky Yetter jumped to the lead from his pole
starting position, followed closely by Dale Hartz and Kevin Smith. Meanwhile,
Von Dohren and Jeff Strunk were charging to the front from their 9th and 10th
starting positions respectively. Strunk was able to pass Yetter for the lead
coming down for the completion of lap 11. From there, Strunk was able to lead
in spite of numerous restarts, until the final one on lap 21. On the final
restart, Von Dohren was able to stay even with the leader at the stripe and was
able to power into the lead coming off turn two. From there Von Dohren was able
to lead the final four laps to record his second victory of the season, and 76th
of his career at Big Diamond. Strunk was able to hold on for second, followed
by Meme Desantis, Frank Cozze from the 20th starting spot, and Doug Manmiller.
Tim Buckwalter, Andy Burkhart, Dale Hartz, Kevin Smith, and Dan Hineline rounded
out the top ten.
Mike Lisowski bolted into the lead from the 3rd starting
position and never looked back, posting his first ever victory in the Sportsman
division at Big Diamond Speedway. Over the second half of the 20 lap event, Tim
Fitzpatrick was able to apply pressure on Lisowski, but couldn't rattle the
youngster as Lisowski was able to cross the finish line as the victor.
Fitzpatrick held on for second, followed by Kevin Beach Jr., current point
leader Jared Umbenhauer, and Ray Woodall Jr. Joe Mooney, Billy Moyer Jr., Shawn
Light, Robin Schultz, and Charles Fayash completed the top ten
finishers.
Marc Berzowski made it three in a row in the Savage 61
Roadrunner 20 lap feature. He was followed across the line by current point
leader Chris Holland, Jeremy Becker, TJ Fitzpatrick, and Elvin Brennan III,
making his first start of the season.
Racing returns to Big Diamond
Speedway next Friday, May 10th with a 25 lap event for the ZY Pyrotechnics 358
Modifieds. Also on the card will be the Roadrunners, round #2 of the Street
Stock series, and the Legend cars. First heat hits the track at 8:15
PM.
The following week on Friday, May 17th, the 358 Modifieds will be
joined by Sportsman and Roadrunners.
