SSP OPENS 60TH SEASON ON SATURDAY, APRIL 6 WITH SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO CARL BILLET

SSP’s Saturday Night Season Opener This Saturday, April 6

Newberrytown, PA (April 3, 2013) – The 2013 season opener of Stock Car Saturday Night will be on Saturday, April 6, with the Late Models, Street Stocks, Classic Cars and the Super Sportsman Tour. Four drivers will look to add their names to the long list of famous drivers such as Bobby Hersh, Johnny Mackison Sr., Kenny Weld, Mitch Smith and Gary Wolford, all who have won season openers in the past. Buzzy Wilson won the first season opener on May 23, 1954 in a Stock Car. It will mark the 60^th year of operation for the track. All point championships for each class starts on April 6. The pit gates will open at 3:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 4:00 p.m. Warm-ups begin at 5:30 p.m. with qualifying races at 6:00 p.m. followed by consolation races and feature events.

Before the National Anthem at the beginning of the night a special tribute to the late Carl Billet will take place. All drivers and car owners who wish to participate may bring their cars to the frontstretch and will have the opportunity to say a few words about Carl at this time. There will also be a special announcement made concerning how Billet will be remembered at the speedway. Billet was a winner at the track’s 1990 Season Opener.

General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for the Season Opener special event on Saturday night are Adults (ages 18-59) $15.00; Young Adults (ages 11-17) & Senior Adults (60 & Older) $13.00; Children (10 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $25.00 with a reduced price of $22.00 for all pit competitor license holders. The minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 12 years of age with a copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 12 to 14.

The Susquehanna Speedway Park is located midway between Harrisburg and York off I-83 to exit 32, then 1.4 miles NW on SR382 to York Road, then 1.3 miles south. - Special Pricing for 2013 Regular Season Pit Pass Cards – In order to help weekly supporters, SSP has announced that season pit pass cards for all automobile race events at the “Big Track” from April 6 through September 14 (23 events) are on sale for just $350.00 (a retail value of $575.00). The pass is not valid for events at the “Outback Track” or for the Test & Tune Sessions held throughout the season. Does not include the USAC racing event on Sunday, June 9.

- 2013 Full Season Grandstand Passes - Are available for only $225.00 (adults ages 18-59); $200.00 (young adults ages 11-17 & seniors 60 and older) for all events (29 event nights) at the “Big Track” for the entire 2013 season (expires 12/31/13). Does not include the USAC racing event on Sunday, June 9.

- Track Rental for the “Big Track” and the “Outback Track” – The “Big track” and the “Outback track” are available for rent beginning March 1, 2013. The “Big Track” rental fee is $1,400.00 for 4 hours and may be split between a maximum of five-(5) drivers/teams. Only one car is permitted on the track at a time. If an ambulance is requested, it is an additional $75.00 per hour. For nighttime rentals at the “Big Track”, an additional $100.00 per hour will be charged for lights.

The rental price for the “Outback Track” is $400.00 for 4 hours during the day /$500.00 at night and may be split between a maximum of five-(5) drivers/teams. To reserve either track, please call 717-292-1696.

- Free Pit Passes for all Non-Qualifiers in 2013 – Any non-qualifier who starts the a qualifying heat race and fails to qualify for the feature in the Late Model, Street Stock, Xtreme Stock Cars, Legends Cars, Mini Vans and Road Warriors divisions during the regular season point events will receive a complimentary pit pass for the driver for the following week during the regular season from April 6 though September 14. The driver must possess a full annual SSP license in order to be eligible for the complimentary pit pass and pass is not transferable to another driver or to another week beyond the following week.

- 2013 SSP Rules Now Posted on Website – The 2013 SSP Rules for the Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stock Cars, Mini Vans and Road Warriors divisions are posted.

- Repeat Fan Discount Continues for 2013 – The popular “Repeat Fan Discount” program will continue at SSP in 2013. There is a $2.00 repeat fan discount for each person with a ticket stub from races during the previous week’s events completed only. Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings during and at the end of the season for great prizes. The Repeat Fan Discount is not valid for pit pass purchases.

Ticket Stubs from the Saturday, November 10, 2012 Final Showdown race may be used for the first three races on April 6, April 13 & April 14.
