CHAMPIONS HAVE MANY CHALLENGERS IN 358 MODIFIEDS AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY IN 2013

BECHTELSVILLE, PA March 8, 2013 . . . Defending NASCAR Whelen All American 358 Modified Series champion Duane Howard, Jeff Strunk and Craig VonDohren have won 20 titles between them at Grandview Speedway.
Strunk has topped the point standings with nine titles while VonDohren has six and Howard claimed five. All three will be back trying to add another title to their impressive resumes in 2013.
However winning a title at the one-third-mile, banked clay oval will be far from easy for any of the three that have shared those 20 titles or anyone else.
Doug Manmiller finished strong in 2012 taking second spot in the standings and earned two feature wins. He has his eye on his first Grandview title.
Veterans Ray Swinehart and Terry Meitzler, both past champions, will be back in action and looking to challenge Strunk, VonDohren and Howard for wins and perhaps the championship.
The always tough Meme DeSantis is expected to be back in the thick of the battle in Saturday night NASCAR 358 Modified action at the Bechtelsville oval. Other fan favorites returning to action include John Willman, Nate Christman, Todd Smith, Mike Gular, Glenn Strunk, Kyle Weiss, Kyle Follweiler, Jon Kellner Sr. & Jr. along with a host of others.
And toss in dirt track racing legend Frank Cozze who will be driving the always competitive Norm Hansell owned #357 Modified. He is looking to win a few during the season.
Also add midget racing standout Tim Buckwalter to the group of newcomers that will be challenging the champions at Grandview Speedway in 2013.
Again in 2013 it is expected that there will be large fields of entries trying to qualify for the 30-lap Modified feature race through the qualifying heats and consolation events.
In addition to the Saturday night action that features the NASCAR 358 Modifieds there will be qualifying events for the Late Models and Sportsman topped off by the top performers competing in feature race events. The Late Models will increase their features to 25 laps this season and the Sportsman will also race in 25 lap main events.
The season gets underway on Saturday, March 30th at noon with a free-to-the-public practice session for all divisions of competition that are planning to take part in racing at the Berks County oval in 2013.
Season ticket holders will be able to attend the practice and pick out their reserved seat that goes with their season ticket.
The chase for the lucrative point championships will get the green on Saturday, April 6, 7 p.m. with a tripleheader show featuring all three classes, 358 Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsman.
Stock car racing action will be the Saturday night attraction April through September 14th when the $25,000 to win BPG Racing Freedom 76 is presented.
Adult admission for the regular Saturday night events will be $15 and youngsters 12 and under are admitted for FREE.
Free parking is always available on the speedway grounds.
A complete schedule of events can be found at www.grandviewspeedway.com or check in at the Grandview Speedway Facebook page.
