SEASON OPENER IN THE BOOKS - ACTION SWITCHES TO FRIDAYS AT BIG DIAMOND SPEEDWAY - STREET STOCKS RETURN

MINERSVILLE, PA - March 26th, 2013

This past Sunday saw the season opener for the tracks regular three divisions go into the record books.

2012 modified track champion Craig Von Dohren of Boyertown PA, kicked off his title defense with the best possible start you could ask for. Von Dohren parked his #1c Bicknell SBM in victory lane Sunday evening taking home the $3000 top prize for the 30 lap main event.

Jared Umbenhauer, Richland PA, piloted the Derfler Auction owned Teo #16 Sportsman to a convincing win Sunday night taking home the $1000 first place prize money. Umbenhauer got to the lead early and was never really contested for the win.

Youngster Kyle Killian, Schuylkill Haven PA, took home career win number two in the always exciting Roadrunner division last Sunday night.

This coming Friday will see the speedways regular three divisions do battle, plus it marks the return of the Street Stock division to Big Diamond Speedway. This division used to be part of the weekly wars many years ago at BDS. They haven't raced at Forestville facility since 1996. The Street Stocks will have eight races on the BDS 2013 schedule this year and Anthracite Coal Delivery has come on board to sponsor this divisions return to the speedway.

Make plans to come on out and catch this exciting four division show at Big Diamond this Friday night March 29th. Last weeks racing was exciting and intense, expect more of the same this week with the ZY Pyrotechnics 358 Mods, USS Achey Sportsman Modifieds, Savage 61 Roadrunners, and the return of the Anthracite Coal Delivery Street Stocks.

Gates open at 5pm with the first heat race set for 8:15pm.

General Admission is $15, students 13 to 17 (with student ID), seniors citizens and military (with ID) is $13, and ALWAYS kids 12 and under are FREE. Don't forget, if you were at Big Diamond last Sunday, the track reminds you to bring your wrist band to the races this week to receive a $2 discount on admission as a THANK YOU from track owners Jake and Jasmine Smulley for supporting opening day on a chilly day.
Also don't forget the RockAuto Family Package deal. Two adults, two students ages 13 to 17 (with ID) two hamburgers, two hot dogs, and four sodas for $50.
