KEVIN DARLING LOOKS FORWARD TO BIG SEASON ON RISLONE URC SPRINT TOUR IN 2013

In 2012, a new name entered the list of URC front runners. Kevin Darling of Wyoming, DE quickly became a contender not only to win features, but most of the 2012 season, he remained in the thick of the battle and within striking distance of the Rislone URC Championship Title. Darling captured his first career URC win at the Big Diamond Raceway in just the fourth race of the season. Darling led the point chase early in the season and finished a strong fourth, just fourteen point behind Josh Weller.

Darling, at age forty-three credits a lot of his 2012 success to the addition of Andy Anderson as crew chief. Well known in the sprint car circles, Anderson has certainly mastered the tuning of their HG Engines and set-up as well, especially with the 360 sprint cars. He also has the ability to read a track so the car is right at the opportune time for Kevin to enter the thick of the battle. Joining Anderson on the Darling crew is Kevin Scott, Kamron Darling, Amy Webb, Will Edwards and David Parker.

By trade, Kevin is owner of the Ken Darling & Sons Inc Septic Contractors. His sponsors for the coming season include Aquaflow Pumps and Supply, Delaware Propane, Anderson Performance, Allstar Performance, R.B. Baker and Sons, KL Vincent Welding, Perfect Finish Powder coating, Best Boarding Kennels, House of Hair, Al Darling Appraisal, Ken Darling & Sons, First State Repair and HRP Wings.

“2012 was an exciting year for the 9D Team and it was also very gratifying knowing that a lot of hard work and money finally paid off with that feature win at Big Diamond and our fourth place finish in the point chase”, stated Kevin. The 9D team has enjoyed the taste of success they are looking for more in the coming season. “Experience, knowledge and car preparation is the key to success and it also helps having a talented and hard-working pit crew”, added Darling.

“To win, you first have to finish so car maintenance is everything. . . . The 9D car never had a mechanical failure all year and that was due to a dedicated crew that put in long hours maintaining the 9D”. Darling continued to say, “Knowing we were competitive made going to track even more enjoyable”.

Kevin likes the fact that the Rislone URC Sprint Series visits so many different tracks as it keeps the driver and team on their toes and that makes for even more entertaining racing.

Looking to the 2013 season, the Darling 9D will show up with the mentality of winning every race, but in reality, he knows that finishing in the top five every race is what will lead to winning the championship. At the end of the day, the one track Kevin Darling really wants to win at is the Delaware International Speedway, of course, in front of his local and home town crowd.

Darling will have plenty of competition including defending champion Robbie Stillwaggon, Davie Franek, Kramer Williamson, Randy West, Joey Biasi, Art Liedl, Chad Trout, Dave Ely, JJ Grasso, Jonathan Swanson, Billy Pauch Jr and a list of others.

The Rislone URC Sprint Series will open at the Big Diamond Raceway on Friday night, April 26 and presented by Pioneer Pole Buildings. The weekend of May 10 and May 11, URC will have their first two race weekend, visiting the Bedford Speedway on Friday night, then heading to the Selinsgrove Speedway on Saturday night for the $3,500 to win Jack Gunn Memorial.
