Stewart Friesen
Continues to Raise the Bar; Completes Successful 2012 Season with Two Track
Championships and 28 Feature Victories
SPRAKERS, NY - Stewart Friesen has set
the bar high for results in recent seasons.
He outdid himself
again in 2012. Friesen, a 29-year-old professional dirt Modified driver from
Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont., who now resides in Sprakers, N.Y., won more events
than any other Northeast driver during the recently concluded season. Friesen
entered 97 races during a busy 2012 campaign and reached Victory Lane an
astounding 28 times.
Demonstrating
unparalleled consistency, Friesen finished inside the top-five in 70 of his 97
starts: more than 72 percent.
"I am fortunate enough
to be surrounded by a lot of good people working toward the same goal," Friesen
said of his phenomenal year. "Having the right people on board in this sport can
make or break you as a driver. I have a group around me that allows me to do
what I love to do - race dirt Modifieds - on a professional
level.
"It's a dream come
true to be able to say that."
Competing weekly at
Ric Lucia's historic Fonda Speedway (Fonda, N.Y.) on Saturday nights as a
regular for the first time, Friesen drove the Tadd Parks-owned No. 1 to the
Modified championship with eight feature wins. His
efforts at Fonda resulted in a runner-up finish in the American Racer East Coast
Dirt Modified Cup ranking drivers from 14 Northeast dirt
tracks.
Friesen's Sunday home
was Gene Cole's Utica-Rome Speedway (Vernon, N.Y.) driving for Tom Cullen
Racing. He won five features and earned the Modified championship for the fifth
time in his career.
Friesen strapped into
Marty Burdick's No. 85 big- and small-block Modifieds for special events. He
finished third in the overall touring Race of Champions (RoC) Dirt Modified Tour
point standings.
Among Friesen's
highlight Modified victories were the $10,000 RoC 'Cabin Fever 60' at New Egypt
Speedway (New Egypt, N.J.) in March, Albany-Saratoga Speedway's (Malta, N.Y.)
April Opener, the July 62nd Anniversary Special at Five Mile Point Speedway
(Kirkwood, N.Y.) and the Alex Friesen Summer Nationals at Ransomville Speedway
(Ransomville, N.Y.) in August, worth
$10,000.
Friesen won at eight
different dirt tracks this season: Albany-Saratoga, Five Mile Point, Fonda, I-88
Speedway (Afton, N.Y.), New Egypt, Ransomville, The Ridge (Fultonville, N.Y.)
and Utica-Rome.
Friesen was a winner
indoors driving a Three-Quarter Midget at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in
Providence, R.I., in March.
Friesen will be
recognized as the Northeast's Leading Winner in January at Motorsports 2013, the
area's largest auto racing trade show, held at the Greater Philadelphia Expo
Center in Oaks, Pa., from January 18-20, 2013.
During the recently
concluded season, Friesen drove for Marty Burdick Racing/Burdick Enterprises
(special events), Parks Companies Racing LLC/Tadd Parks (Fonda), Tom Cullen
Racing (Utica-Rome), Jake Spraker Racing (Albany-Saratoga and specials beginning
in June) and BCL Racing (en route to the Ransomville
victory).
Primary marketing
partners included Original Pizza Logs and Jeff Daley and Sons Oil
Service.

he will make his debut as a race event promoter in June 2013 at New Egypt
Speedway. He will co-promote the ‘Dirty Jersey 60’ Super DIRTcar Series event
with Brett Deyo on June 18, 2013. The event marks the return of DIRTcar racing
to New Jersey for the first time since 2007.
