Street Stock 50 Lapper in Miller’s Racing Parts Fall
Classic at SSP on Saturday Night
Next Test & Tune
on Thursday, October 25
Newberrytown,
PA (October 20, 2012) – Bill Henney of Huntingdon, PA took the checkers and o
the Street Stock main event to earn $2,500 at the Susquehanna Speedway Park on
Saturday night. The Street Stock feature
was one of four divisions featured at the 9th Annual Miller’s Racing
Parts Fall Classic presented in part with Insinger Performance Fuels. York’s Patrick McClane took the lead from the
start and never looked back to win the Xtreme Stock Car 40 lapper. Eric Hollenbach of Fredricksburg won the 30-lap Four Cylinder
Stock Car feature. On Friday night, Jim
Crocker from Reisterstown, MD won the exciting Classic Cars 20 lap feature
event.
The
50-lap Street Stock feature event began with Friday’s Cash Dash Winner Mike
Walls taking the early lead from the pole position on the green flag start. Walls led the first 17 laps while being
pursued by Bill Henney until mechanical problems forced Walls from the
race. Henney then inherited the lead and
began a torrid pace around the 4/10 mile oval with Marshall McMullen, Scott
Thunberg and Mike Franklin in pursuit of the top spot. Thunberg moved into the runner-up spot one
lap before the midway point. Three
caution flags in the second half of the race put Thunberg on Henney’s rear
bumper, but Thunberg was unable to make the winning pass for the lead. At the finish, Henney was victorious over
Thunberg with Franklin finishing third.
McMullen settled for fourth, followed by Jim Palm Jr. rounding out the
top five. Sixth place went to John
Bouse, followed by the B-Main winner Eric Tripp in seventh. Zac Beck earned the hard charger award coming
from a 23rd place starting spot to claim eight. Steve Ramsey and Brian Rehbein rounded out
the top ten finishers. Friday’s heat
race wins went to Mike Walls; Bill Henney; Marshall McMullen and Jimmy
Jesmer.
The 40-lap
Xtreme Stock Car race had Patrick McClane lead from start to finish to win claim
the checkers at the finish and won an additional $500 for the Big Three
Challenge sponsored by Superior Homes of Lancaster. McClane won his heat, the cash dash and the
feature event to claim the bonus. Although McClane wired the field from start to
finish, the battle behind him was close and exciting behind him. At the end, Chad Stine took home the second
place finish over Cameron Benyou and Ricky Bender. Dan Furman rounded out the top five at the
finish. Mike Goodwin finished in sixth,
followed by Donnie Broderick, the race’s hard charger, coming from
23rd to finish seventh. Adam
Smith finished eighth with Davey Nestor and Josh Bloom completing the top
ten. Friday night heat race wins went to
McClane, Bender and Palm.
In the 30-lap
Four Cylinder Stock Car feature event, Ronnie Garlock led the first four laps
until Eric Hollenbach took over the top spot on the fifth circuit. On the tenth lap, Jeremy Ott overtook
Hollenbach for the lead and led until he retired from the race on lap 20, giving
the lead back to Hollenbach. After
taking the lead for the second time, Hollenbach went on to lead the final 11
laps to claim the victory over Steve Hastings.
Early leader Garlock finished in third, followed by the hard charger Josh
Group who finished fourth after starting the race in 18th. Dennis Christ Jr. rounded out the top
five. Heat race wins went to Hollenbach
and Garlock.
On Friday
night, the 20-lap Classic Car feature event in memory of Lyle Adcock began with
one of his cars driven by Kurt Welsh taking the early lead. Welsh led the first 19 laps but Jim Crocker
scooted by him coming out of four to take the checkers over runner-up
Welsh. Justin Cullum finished in third
with Brandon Little and Steve Cantwell finishing fourth and fifth
respectively. Heat race winners were
Bill Brown Jr. and Pete Neal.
