NEW EGYPT, NJ – Super DIRTcar Series big-block Modifieds return to New Jersey in 2013.
NEW EGYPT, NJ – Super DIRTcar Series big-block Modifieds return to New Jersey in 2013.
Modified superstar Stewart Friesen and special events
promoter/motorsports writer Brett Deyo have entered into an agreement with New
Egypt Speedway owner Fred Vahlsing and general manager Danny Serrano to lease
the spic-and-span facility for a return of the premier big-block Modified
touring series to the Garden State in 2013.
Friesen-Deyo Promotions brings the ‘Dirty Jersey 60 – How Dirty Are
You?’ Super DIRTcar Series event to New Egypt on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 (rain
date June 19). The event will pit the best of the Super DIRTcar Series against
top Pennsylvania-New Jersey talent in a 60-lap event on the racy 7/16ths-mile
oval. The night will mark the first Super DIRTcar Series event at New Egypt
since Oct. 13, 2007.
The
announcement came Thursday afternoon during ‘Media Day’ at NAPA Auto Parts Super
DIRT Week XLI held in the John Hill Media Center at the New York State
Fairgrounds in Syracuse, N.Y.
The
event will offer the lucrative Super DIRTcar Series purse – totaling more than
$27,000 – plus special awards and bonuses.
The ‘Dirty Jersey 60’ is a first-time promotional venture for the
29-year-old Friesen, arguably the Northeast’s hottest dirt Modified driver.
Friesen grew up on the business side of the sport in the shadows of his
grandfather Stan, late Uncle Alex (a budding promoter who lost his life in
1996), Uncle Joel and father Jamie, who continue to operate Ransomville Speedway
in Western New York.
“Growing up on that side of the sport, I notice a lot of things
promoters do wrong and things promoters do right,” said Friesen, a two-time VP
Racing Fuels-Small Engine Fuel 200 champion during Super DIRT Week at the
Syracuse Mile. “Every little detail of
an event plays a big part in the outcome. I’m really looking forward to getting involved
in this event to make it a night to remember."
Deyo, 29, has promoted a dozen special dirt Modified events since
2006 at a number of venues including Five Mile Point Speedway (Kirkwood, N.Y.),
Penn Can Speedway (Susquehanna, Pa.), Big Diamond Speedway (Minersville, Pa.)
and Afton Speedway (Afton, N.Y.). The ‘Dirty Jersey 60’ will be his first event
sanctioned by the Super DIRTcar Series and an initial foray into promotion at
New Egypt.
“As
far as amenities for fans, competitors and sponsors, New Egypt is tops,” Deyo
said. “It is a showcase facility for dirt Modified racing that is
second-to-none. The Super DIRTcar Series brings in the top names in Modified
racing for a lucrative purse. There are some very talented drivers in the
Pennsylvania-New Jersey region looking to keep the money at home. It is the
recipe for a blockbuster show.”
Friesen, who is a past New Egypt winner, says the Super DIRTcar
Series offers the strongest product for fans and competitors in dirt Modified
racing.
“There is a definite value in the Super DIRTcar Series,” Friesen
said. “They run a professional show. Their purse back through the field is the
best you will find. They put out a quality product.”
Further details – including the support division for the program –
will be announced in the near future. Information and announcements will be
