LAUBACH LANDS 2012 BIG BLOCK MODIFIED TITLE AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY

Swedesboro, NJ (September 30, 2012) – On Championship Night at
Bridgeport Speedway, Stan Frankenfield, Jr. and Rick Laubach picked up
Big Block Modified feature wins. With his seventh victory of the
season, Laubach landed the 2012 Big Block Modified championship. The
Crate Sportsmen main events were taken by CJ Jones and Ricky DiEva as
Ryan Anderson won the point title. Bill Liedtka took the checkered
flag in the Outlaw Stock Car feature.

In the postponed 30-lap Big Block Modified feature from September 22,
Stan Frankenfield, Jr. led from start to finish as he won the non-stop
event. Starting on the pole, Frankenfield blasted to the front with
Sean Gunther and Ron Roberts in tow. Roberts moved into second place
with three circuits completed and was beginning to feel pressure from
Ryan Watt and Richie Pratt, Jr. With Frankenfield pulling away from
the pack, a three car battle for second place was won by Pratt on lap
7. With a third of the event completed, Frankenfield had built a full
straightaway lead over Pratt. By lap 15, Frankenfield’s advantage was
cut in half as he began to encounter lap traffic. On the nineteenth
circuit, Frankenfield was stuck behind a slower competitor and Pratt
pulled alongside the leader. After clearing the slower running car on
lap 21, Frankenfield began to edge away from Pratt and Eric Kormann,
who had just taken over third place from Watt. With five tours to go,
the top two were engaged in another batch of lap traffic and Pratt
began to inch closer to Frankenfield. Throughout the final laps,
Frankenfield drove smoothly through the slower running competitors to
gain his first career Big Block Modified feature win at Bridgeport
Speedway. Pratt came home in second with Kormann taking third. Watt
and Mike Barone completed the top five. The heat races, which were
completed on September 22, were won by Mike Barone, Stan Frankenfield,
Jr. and Ryan Watt. The two consolation races that were contested on
September 29 were taken by Duane Howard and Bob Sarkisian.

In the regularly scheduled 30-lap Big Block Modified feature, Rick
Laubach grabbed the lead with five laps remaining to claim his seventh
checkered flag of the year. Stan Frankenfield grabbed the early lead
with Sean Gunther and Ron Roberts in pursuit. By lap 5, Frankenfield
was still on top with Mike Barone charging into the runner-up spot.
Barone’s strong run ended two circuits later with a mechanical issue
and Wade Hendrickson took over second place when Gunther exited the
race as well. By lap 9, Frankenfield was still setting the pace with
Hendrickson and Richie Pratt, Jr. in close quarters. Pratt took over
second place on the eleventh circuit with fourth place running Rick
Laubach nearing Hendrickson for third. Laubach gained third place on
lap 14 as Frankenfield had a full straightaway margin over Pratt.
Laubach had just moved into second place when the third caution of the
event was shone on the nineteenth tour of the outer oval. On the
restart, Frankenfield remained on top with Pratt regaining second
place from Laubach. On lap 21, Pratt sprinted by Frankenfield for the
lead. Two circuits later, Laubach and Duane Howard moved past
Frankenfield to take over second and third respectively. Quickly,
Laubach reeled in Pratt and grabbed the lead with five laps remaining.
As Pratt and Howard were battling for second, Laubach pulled away in
the final moments and led the pack across the finish line for the win.
Pratt held off Howard for second place. Ryan Watt and Eric Kormann
rounded out the top five. Mike Barone, Richie Pratt, Jr. and Sean
Gunther won the Big Block Modified heat races. The consolation contest
went to Brett Ballard. With the victory, Laubach earned his first Big
Block Modified championship at Bridgeport Speedway.

In the 20-lap Crate Sportsmen feature from September 22, CJ Jones led
every step of the way to pick up his second win of the season. Jones
preserved his victory by holding off Brad Roberts and Mike Cogdill on
a restart with two circuits to go. With Roberts finishing second and
Cogdill taking third, Tommy Beamer wound up in fourth and Ricky DiEva
came home in fifth. Ricky DiEva won the heat race completed on
September 22 while Mike Cogdill won the second qualifying event
contested on September 29. Ryan Simmons was the victor in the
consolation race.

Ricky DiEva took the lead with three tours left to win the regularly
scheduled 20-lap Crate Sportsmen main event. Brett Kelly led the
opening three tours before Brad Roberts took over. After moving into
second place on the sixth circuit, DiEva began to chase down Roberts
and he grabbed the lead on lap 17 while running in lap traffic. The
runner-up spot was taken by Travis Hill. Mike Cogdill, Frank Dorry and
Ryan Anderson filled out the top five. The Crate Sportsmen qualifying
events were taken by CJ Jones and Brad Roberts. Kyle Hieber took the
checkered flag in the consolation contest. Ryan Anderson won the 2012
championship in the Crate Sportsmen class.

After starting in last place, Bill Liedtka passed Jeff Dirkes as the
white flag waved and went on to win the 15-lap Outlaw Stock Car race.
Brian Ludwig finished in second place with Rick Broschard taking
third. Dirkes came home in fourth and fifth went to Spider Ensinger,
Jr. The Outlaw Stock Car heat winners were Jeff Dirkes and Ed Tinsman,
Jr.
