Racers Preferred Models Steps Up
With Attractive Giveaway Packages Aimed at Fans & Competitors for VP Racing
Fuels-Pioneer Pole Buildings 2012 Short Track SuperNationals at Five Mile Point
Oct. 6
KIRKWOOD, NY - Racers Preferred Models
is stepping up for both racers and fans during the fifth anniversary Short Track
SuperNationals presented by VP Racing Fuels and Pioneer Pole Buildings.
At the Oct. 6 'Working Man's Race'
event, Racers Preferred Models proprietor Rob Mortier has signed on to provide
attractive bonuses to both fans and competitors attending the event at Five Mile
Point Speedway in Kirkwood, N.Y. The
event is headlined by a 50-lap feature for big-block/small-block
Modifieds.
The event winner and another
randomly selected driver will receive a 'Starter Package' from Racers Preferred
Models to include a complete Racers Preferred Model design of the winning car,
three copies of the 1/16th-scale model shipped to the race team's door - a $299
value.
The fans have not been forgotten,
either! At the SuperNationals, three model cars ($60 value each) will be given
away as prizes through a drawing of general admission tickets.
Racers Preferred Models is on the
web at www.racerspreferredmodels.com. The company has produced more than 600
different dirt Modified model cars that have raced the ovals of New York,
Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Canada.
"Rob at RPM has provided something
unique for the SuperNationals that will benefit our fans and racers," said event
promoter Brett Deyo. "RPM was part of our recent 'Clash at the Can' held at Penn
Can (Pa.) Speedway and their generosity was well received by the lucky fans that
left with model cars.
"Mike Payne, car owner for Danny
Johnson who won that race in June, was thrilled to have a constant memory of
their victory with the 'Starter Package' prize."
The fifth 'Working Man's Race' at
Five Mile Point is shaping up to be the most lucrative to date for Modified
racers. The green money has been increased to $455 for 50 laps of racing on a
quarter-mile oval.
Alpine Building Supply of
Schuylkill Haven, Pa., returns as the 'Roll the Dice Challenge' sponsor for the
SuperNationals event, boosting the winner's share by $1,500 so long as they have
posted the $20 'gambler's fee' prior to the start of qualifying.
A long list of bonus and award
sponsors has signed on to support the SuperNationals in 2012. A complete list,
updated frequently, can be found online at www.bdmotorsportsmedia.com. A large
cross-section of competitors will benefit from this bonus program, including
drivers who do not qualify for the main event.
Registration is currently underway
for the Short Track SuperNationals. Entry forms have been posted to the BD
Motorsports Media website. Brian Malcolm of Lake Ariel, Pa., earned two free pit
passes to the SuperNationals via a drawing of the first 10 early entries
received. The drawing took place in Victory Lane at Penn Can Speedway Aug.
24.
All remaining pre-entered drivers
who file an entry prior to Sept. 30 will be part of a second drawing to be held
at the drivers' meeting on race day for a pair of $50 gas cards. Registration in
advance is just $15: $20 less than it had been in 2006 when the SuperNationals
was first contested!
Modified rules allow for big- or
small-block engines, gasoline or methanol, sail panels or windows, an open tire
rule (run weekly at a Northeast dirt Modified facility), with a draw for
position setting the heat-race starting orders. Complete rules and race
procedures have been posted on the BD Motorsports Media website.
ALL racing activity takes place on
Saturday (Oct. 6) with an open practice on Friday (Oct. 5) evening.
The Comfort Inn of Binghamton,
N.Y., 1000 Front Street just miles from the speedway off Interstate 81 Exit 5,
serves as the host hotel with a group rate of $99/night. Contact the Comfort Inn
by phone at 607.724.3297 and mention "SuperNationals" to receive the discounted
rate.
Joining the Modifieds on the
program are Street Stocks (under 2011 Race of Champions rules, 25 laps) and a
Four Cylinder Open event (18 laps).
Previous Short Track SuperNationals
Modified winners include Duane Howard of Oley, Pa., (2011), Justin Holland of
White Lake, N.Y. (2010), Kevin Hirthler of Boyertown, Pa. (2009) and Mike Ricci
of Rosendale, N.Y. (2006).
