BIGGEST EVENT IN TRACK HISTORY, THE BPG RACING FREEDOM 76 WITH $50,000 PLUS TO THE WINNER SET FOR SATURDAY, SEPT. 15

BECHTELSVILLE, PA September 7, 2012 . . . . Over the years some of the best known names in area dirt track Modified racing have raced in Grandview Speedway’s BPG Racing Freedom 76 and some of them have been winners.
Any one of them would like to have an opportunity to win this year’s edition of the Freedom 76, the 42nd annual, as there is $50,000 plus lap money going to the winner. It is the biggest first place offering in the history of the race and it is one of the biggest first place offerings at any track for this type of racing and it tops off the 50th Anniversary season.
Names like Billy Pauch, Craig VonDohren, Kenny Brightbill, Doug Hoffman, Glenn Fitzcharles, Fred Rahmer, Duane Howard, Jeff Strunk, Ray Swinehart, Meme DeSantis and others have been to victory lane.
This year the 358 Modified event has drawn attention from racers in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and surrounding areas because of the lucrative first place money. However second place is not too shabby either with $11,000 going to the runner-up. And there is more than $3,000 in lap money and other perks. More than $85,000 will be paid out with last place paying $400. It will be a history making event.
Some extra perks for the racers is the $500 being offered to the leader by Area Auto Racing News/Motorsports 2013. The Hard Luck Award, $150, is posted by Open Header Motorsports. Lap 36 will pay $200 to the leader in memory of Daniel Gary Kaniuk. V&M Towing has posted $250 for the leader of the 44th lap. The Hard Charger Awards include a recliner chair and $100 from Beltzville Furniture and Bobby Gunther Walsh and Sponsors.
The BPG Racing Freedom 76, set for Saturday, September 15th, 7 p.m. has attracted some of the top names in the sport today including Billy Decker, Danny Johnson, Rick Laubach, Stewart Friesen, Gary Tomkin, Bobby Varin, Billy Pauch, Ryan Godown, Duane Howard (last year’s winner), Meme DeSantis (three times a winner in the last 10 years), Jeff Strunk, Craig VonDohren and a long list of other standouts. Kenny Brightbill is planning to race for the $50,000. Other names will be announced in the next few days.
Included in the night of racing action will be a full slate of qualifying races, the last chance to make the feature race Schaeffer Motorsports Minuteman 20, the Mertz Flying Mullet Cash Dash worth $1500 to the winner followed by the big one, the BPG Racing Freedom 76 that could start as many as 40 cars.
Admission tickets are $40 for adults, $10 for youngsters 6 through 12 and kids under 6 are admitted FREE. Pit admission is $50.
Advance and season ticket holders will be admitted at 3 p.m. with ticket windows opening at 3:30 p.m. Season ticket holders are entitled to their reserved seat for this event. Warm-ups start at 5:30 p.m. and racing will get the green flag at 7 p.m.
Fans will have a great opportunity to win some cash as the Bechtelsville, PA Fire Co. presents a 50/50 with three winners. Bound to be a big payoff because of the huge crowd that is expected.
Keith Gerhart will again kick things off with his traditional rendition of the National Anthem.
There is a Saturday, September 22nd rain date in place and if needed it will follow the same schedule of events.
There is camping available on the speedway grounds (no hookups) and campers are being asked to set up in the fourth turn area of the parking lot and there is camping available across the street from the fourth turn. Additional parking has been made available to handle the large crowd expected for the race.
Due to space limitations this year, a huge number of race cars filling the pits and the first turn parking area, there will be no FanFest but plans are being made to have that event return in 2013.
A 52-page (10 pages of color) BPG Racing Freedom 76 Program/Yearbook has been created for the event and will include a complete history of the track, a history of the BPG Racing Freedom 76, stories on the three different track champions, complete final point standings, a list of all Saturday night feature winners going back to the beginning, loads of recent action photos and historic photos, and so much more. The book will be available for $7 on race day.
Grandview Speedway is located at 43 Passmore Road, Bechtelsville, PA, just off Route 100, 10 miles north of Pottstown. For information telephone 610.754.7688 or check in at www.grandviewspeedway.com.
